I’ll let you into a little secret…
I hate cleaning.
I would much rather be slobbing on the sofa watching Netflix, than doing the household chores. Wouldn’t you?
I always thought that people with clean, tidy homes must spend their lives doing housework. Right?
Wrong.
People with clean, tidy homes actually just have great routines that get the job done quickly – meaning more time for down-time.
Isn’t that what we all want?
So how can we spend less time cleaning too?
First of all, you need to accept that housework is a part of life. I know that sounds ridiculous but I will admit I have been fighting that fact for the best part of 20 years.
And my house has been a state for most of that time…
Once you’re on board with that fact, we can get started!
So the first thing you need is a routine. I have mine printed out in my control journal and I’ve made one for you too…
I do most of my daily routine in the first hour that I am awake so that the kids don’t get in my way. And yes, it does mean having to get up before them – but if it means the rest of your day is your own, it is totally worth it!
I have been filming my daily routines, so pop over to my Youtube channel to and keep and eye out for more printables coming soon!
So next are the tools of the trade. You can’t clean your home if you don’t have the right tools for the job, can you?
There are just a few things you need to keep your home spick and span.
Cleaning cloths – pink for the sink and blue for the loo.

I use 2 different coloured cloths as it means germs aren’t transferred from one place to another.
Disinfectant spray

My latest obsession is Zoflora – honestly, if you haven’t tried it yet, you really must!
Duster & Mop

I have this cleaning set from Beldray and it is so handy. It comes with a chenille duster, window cleaner, microfibre flat mop and telescopic handle for those hard to reach places.
Vacuum

This is my least favourite job but thankfully my new vacuum has taken care of it for me. I also have a handheld vacuum for hard to reach areas and for cleaning out the car.
Compact clothes airer

I love that it has extenders so you can hang shirts on hangers easily.

Whether you have a tumble drier or not, you need a clothes airer, don’t you? I love this compact airer as it takes up hardly any space but fits a whole load of washing! Saves space and stops my house looking like a launderette!
Once you have your tools and your morning routine printed, you are good to go. I have put my routine into practice over the last few months and I now barely spend any time cleaning and my house is ready for visitors should they arrive unexpectedly.
I still don’t like cleaning, but now I get to have a clean house and watch Netflix! Win!
I have a Beldray cleaning set to give away to one lucky winner, all you have to do is complete the widget below. Good luck!

I feel like I am cleaning all day every day! I wish I had a routine but with young children they could be drawing on the walls as I’m changing a nappy!
