I can hardly believe I am writing this post, it doesn’t seem a minute that Lils was a baby and here we are, just a few days away from her starting pre-school. Anyone who has been there before will know that it is a slippery slope to them starting ‘big school’ and that basically she’s all grown up! This time last year she hadn’t even starting talking and now here she is all ready and excited to be just like her sister.
She has wanted school shoes for about a year now and has actually been wearing some black plimsolls for ages as she was desperate to be a ‘big girl’, bless her. So, when Start-rite got in touch I knew she’d be excited to choose her very own pair of proper school shoes. She is so excited to have her own little uniform and school shoes are the finishing touch aren’t they?
We used their measuring gauge at home by printing out a sheet with gradients up the side in mm. By putting in the length and width of the foot you are able to use their online calculator to give you a size and width fitting. Lils has really long and narrow feet – in fact I thought there was an error when it first told me as she is a C width. I didn’t even know they went down as far as a C! I was so sure that it was wrong that I went to get her feet measured in person and she is indeed just a rare thin footed child. Who knew?
With the size sorted it was time to choose a shoe. Her pre-school allow different shoes but she was adamant that she wanted black school shoes. We chose their Princess Elza black leather shoes as she liked the little charms on the sides. There was a patent alternative but I could see her scuffing those although they do say they are scuff resistant but I prefer leather look anyway.
They are a lovely pair of shoes and fit her perfectly. They have padding around the ankle so they have extra comfort to avoid uncomfortable rubbing – something I always look for in a shoe. The soles are really flexible too which will mean she can run around happily and not feel restricted at all, really important for growing feet.
Doesn’t she look adorable? So grown up I just can’t believe it! I have been a bit anxious about her starting as she is so shy but her excitement has been infectious the last few weeks that I know she will be absolutely fine. She’ll look the part anyway won’t she?
Two children in school now and one to go, time is certainly flying!

They are cute shoes. Holly started preschool this week too and it was a bit emotional for me. My house felt so quiet and I am not ready for my baby to leave me. I hope she has a wonderful time x

I think I'll probably feel a bit lost for a few weeks until I find a new balance. In my head she's only 2!!!

Oh they are cute! I love the bows, it makes them school shoes, but not too schooly if that makes sense! I hope she has a wonderful start to pre-school and where has that time gone!!
