Siblings Photography Project - What Katy Said

Siblings In September

I know there will be a lot of people feeling the same as me this month- seeing their close-knit siblings separated by the new school year. My girls have spent the whole summer getting closer and closer only to be split up by a new routine. It is taking a lot of getting used to and I am yet to find a happy medium but we are slowly finding our way.

Being only a few days into September and most of those being taken up by school, I haven’t got a huge amount of photos of the two of them together. As I was sorting through my photos I found one that just summed up their relationship at the moment.

Now that Little G is at school their relationship has changed already. Over the summer it was all about fun, messing about and having a great time with each other. With the new term has brought a new routine- LJ naps in the morning and Little G is at school in the afternoons, leaving a short time to actually be together.

Their time together now is spent very carefully. They read together and sit quietly cuddling watching the tv as I cook dinner. Part of it is the fact Little G is exhausted but really I can see that they miss each other. School may have split them up but it has also made them stronger and brought them closer.

Oh what a lovely photo and I think you have a point, now that their time together is much rarer it will hopefully make it more special – do you think that will lead to fewer squabbles – my survey of two (Kitty and Elma) suggests not but there’s time yet!

They do look very content sitting together on the sofa like that and the missing each other part sounds hard. But glad they still obviously have a very loving bond with each other x

Aw, lovely picture, and it’s nice to see how even though they are more separated, their bond is actually growing. My little girl has also just started school, so it’s a very emotional month full of changes for everyone. The age gap to Alex is a bit bigger, so he doesn’t actively miss her as not that much has changed for them, as they were in separate rooms at nursery before, but I can imagine what I big transition it must be. But it looks like they are adapting beautifully and that if anything, they will become a stronger little team for it!

Lovely photo. It can be tricky for siblings to understand the changes when their brother/sister goes to school, it’s a big change for everyone.

Awww… That’s so nice that they can cuddle together at the end of the day. For some reasons Ethan is as still as hype as he was at the beginning of the day. lol! I think I need to tired him out with after school clubs. Then I think he might just sit and cuddle with Evelyn. 😉 x #Kidscornor

I think the big changes of September were definitely a big theme for Siblings posts this month. So sad and so exciting at the same time. Your two look so cute sharing the book together. x
