Siblings: February

I feel like all I talk about recently is my blue-eyed boy, I guess he takes up quite a bit of my time. The thing is, I am so busy taking in every drop of him that I seem to have neglected to see my girls. I looked at Lils the other day and I realised my little toddler was gone, she’s grown up right before my eyes and I missed it.

I missed it.

I know I have a reason but it isn’t an excuse, I have lost my focus or misplaced it at least and I need to make sure I don’t lose focus again. I have three children and they all need my attention in equal measure, something I am going to try and and give them, independently, over the next few weeks.

Gracie has finished another half term of reception and is racing towards starting year 1 – honestly where on earth does that time go? Most recently she’s started Rainbows and she absolutely loves it! I was a Brownie when I was little and I have to say I was probably the worst Brownie in the world. I hated the idea of collecting badges and went under duress most weeks. She is the total opposite though and cannot wait to start collecting badges! She is nothing like me at all in looks and in nature, a total daddy’s girl.

Lils, what can I say about her without causing huge tears to plop onto my keyboard. She is just so lovely and suddenly is a little girl. I guess that is what happens when you become a big sister, suddenly there is no room for being a baby anymore. Although she is the youngest sister she is a total mother hen and looks after both of her siblings, always putting them before herself – just such a sweetheart. She is 100% a middle child though and I don’t know how I feel about it. I don’t want her to feel left out or sandwiched between her brother and sister. I always want her to be her own person and I will do everything in my power to give her the attention she deserves.

I love this month’s set of photos, I took them the other day at a friend’s house – the light in their living room was too good to pass up! We went away to Devon for a couple of days and it was so lovely to be out from our usual 4 walls and enjoy each others company. The girls especially needed time to reconnect as by the time they get home from school / pre-school they are too exhausted to play. They are often so grumpy that they just argue, so having time away from it all has allowed them to relax again too.

So of course I can’t not mention my baby boy – look at him sitting! He is pretty much able to sit without support, although he does like to fling himself backwards! He is a little over 5 months now and I think by the next time I do a siblings update he will be eating – it is all he is interested in now! Sleep still evades us but I am used to that now… almost.

The three of them keep me on my toes but I love it. I love that I get to call myself their mama and do everything that comes along with that title. As I was sitting waiting for Lils to finish her ballet class the other day I looked around at all of the other parents and smiled, this is my life now – after school clubs, my mum-bus and sleepless nights. I couldn’t be happier.

Over the next month I want to make sure I take the girls out to do one-on-one activities with them. Gracie never gets me to herself any more and I always have Wills with me even if I manage to do something with Lils on the days she isn’t at pre-school. That is definitely something I want to rectify – if you have any kiddie date ideas for them then let me know!

Gorgeous photos of your little trio - they are all growing up so quickly! It's crazy how quickly this first year of school is going isn't it - I can't believe that Gracie and Jessica are now half-way through their Reception year and that Wills is five months old already. It's such a bittersweet moment when you look at your little ones and realise that they've suddenly passed through a stage - I can definitely relate! Hope you enjoy having that one-to-one time :-) #siblingsproject

Oh Katy they are so adorable. I love these in their own way each having a relationship bond in between each other and all together. It's such a great dynamic. I have always wanted three kids for this reason. Those eyes they all have such beautiful eyes. #siblingsproject
