Put Your Best Foot Forward: A Shoe Guide For Fashionable Mums

Inside: Put Your Best Foot Forward: A Shoe Guide For Fashionable Mums. Collaborative post.

Comfort is key when it comes to footwear. Very few people in this world would be okay with ill-fitting shoes, regardless of how fashionable they might be. And when you are a mom, having solid, practical and comfortable shoes is essential for getting through the day’s chaos.

Apart from putting you in pain, shoes that don’t fit properly can lead to more long-term issues like bunions and plantar fasciitis. But you don’t have to sacrifice style to be comfortable. So whether you are after a pair of teva shoes or sophisticated glove boots, you won’t be short of decent footwear options.

Fashion Sneakers

Fashion sneakers are a dominating trend in the footwear industry. It is heavily influenced by street style and the factors that have primarily shaped this clothing style. Because of its immense popularity, there are endless options to choose from, ranging in colours, designs, materials, and brands.

They are relatively versatile shoes, as they are both extremely comfortable and can easily be matched with most clothes like skirts, shorts, jeans, and sundresses. Opt for more neutral colours and designs for maximum usage.

Tennis Shoes

If fashion sneakers feel too trendy or unfamiliar for you, the traditional white tennis shoe is a timeless classic that continues to find itself in a capsule wardrobe. They are incredibly versatile and designed for maximum comfort with a simplistic design.

Most tennis shoes are made with light, breathable fabrics and solid rubber soles. While this combination is ideal for summer wear, it might not be suitable for rainy weather or the colder months.

Boat Shoes

Boat shoes are the perfect shoes to splurge a little more on for maximum reward. They were initially designed to be worn on the decks of boats, meaning they have incredibly sturdy and grippy soles. Unfortunately, they only gained popularity in women’s fashion in the 2000s, but it has been smooth sailing since.

They are incredibly stylish, comfortable, and easy to put on while maintaining a level of casualness that makes them ideal year-round. The traditional colours have always been white or dark neutrals, but the variety from which to pick has grown tremendously these days.

Loafers

Loafers are a must-have for everyone’s wardrobe, regardless of age or gender. They are the perfect combination of comfort and sophistication, and with the right style, they can be appropriate for any social occasion.

They are traditionally made with leather, faux leather, or suede and, if maintained correctly, can last many years, getting softer and more comfortable with age. Because of their wide usage, it would be sensible to get pairs that are dark neutral colours with minimal patterns and designs.

Wedge Heels

For some women, high heels represent both comfort and style to them. Unfortunately, pregnant women are discouraged from wearing heeled shoes as they can present serious fall risks. But incorporating them back into your post-pregnancy wardrobe doesn’t have to mean reintroducing torture devices.

Switching out the conventional heel for a wedge option will feel like a gift from the fashion guards. The chunkier heel not only provides a sturdier base to walk on, but the base proportions under your foot mean your weight is better distributed while walking, making it less likely to cause pain in your feet, ankles, and calves.

Glove Boots

Glove boots are a comfortable and chic heeled boot option for all women. They are usually designed to have a heel with decent height, but nothing extreme like traditional stilettos. In addition, the knitted wool fabric replaces the regular stiff leather or faux leather material, maximising the snug fit.

These pull-on boots are perfect to wear during the day and for formal evening events. However, unlike their leather counterparts, the material used to make them does not fair well with water and, through continued wear, will eventually become stretched. But if properly made, neither of these points will become issues early on.

Chelsea Boots

Like loafers, Chelsea boots are a timeless classic for excellent reasons. They are the perfect ankle boot option for both men and women, with optimum levels of comfort and sleek, stylish designs appropriate for the boardroom, Sunday brunch, and date night.

They are usually made with leather or faux leather materials, with recognisable stretch fabric panels on either side of the ankle. While these options are suitable all year round, in any weather conditions, the Chelsea boot style can be found in various other materials like rubber or silicon to make waterproof gumboots.

You can find many amazing options of quality Chelsea boots for women. They are a popular choice of boots.

Slides

Slide sandals might mean different things to different people. Finding a pair of comfortable and trendy slide-on sandals will be the perfect go-to option for summer, especially on days spent outside in the garden or at the beach.

Typically fashion experts encourage us to opt for more neutral or toned-down shades to increase their use with the clothes we already own; slides are one of those items that getting a little crazy with won’t be a problem.

The only thing to look out for with this sandal design is the absence of a back strap. Some people have no issues walking in footwear like this, but test them out in the shop before buying them. If you find they slip off too easily or your foot has to work too hard to keep them on, look for something with more structure.
