Inside: How to Prepare for a Fab Floor this Easter. Collaborative post.
As Easter rapidly approaches, the kids prepare to break up from school and those nights change to sunnier evenings. It stands to reason that you have the urge to make some changes quickly before everything becomes chaos.
Making adequate space is one thing, but most people want a change in visual comfort for their homes. Swapping that drab carpet for something fresh, the better choice to provide a quick day exercise that changes the entire focus of your room is luxury vinyl flooring such as quick step flooring
Only some people want to splurge the money at this time of year on a professional fitter for flooring, wishing to undertake the challenge themselves. Thankfully it is easier than you may initially believe.
Plan Ahead
Finding the right option in vinyl flooring will require a bit of forward research into your requirements. There are many brands to choose from, such as Quick-Step vinyl flooring, where sometimes the hard part is simply choosing from the number of options you have to hand.
A great perk of vinyl flooring is that the underlayment is built into the product, eliminating an entire step when laying a floor – thereby giving you some advantage on time, money and labour.
Subfloor
When you pull up the old floor, check the subfloor for faults before laying anything new. It needs to be level and smooth on the surface, sanding down any bumps and filling in any holes.
Both nails or staples stuck in wooden boards should be removed and cleaned of dirt and debris. These things come back to haunt you after you have laid a vinyl floor over them if not properly attended to – so don’t cut corners when working on your levelling.
If you have any squeaky floorboards, take a moment to fix them before installation. A drywall screw drilled next to the nail in that area will make it steady and sound.
Installation
Before beginning, it is best to fully decide on your laying design by talking with an expert and measuring the pieces. That will avoid surprises like low tile/plank amounts – or too many.
It can take a good few hours uninterrupted to lay luxury flooring, such as dark grey vinyl flooring depending on the complexity of its layout design. In most cases, you may feel more assured by hiring a professional fitter through your supplier.
As Easter is a busy period for activity, you may find plans pushed back if handling it yourself. Having a professional put your flooring in place for one day is the surefire way of swapping out the drab for the fab in 2023.
