Pregnancy: Getting Comfortable At Night

I feel like I have been pregnant forever, but when I really think about it, the last 8 months have completely flown by. The thing that has really made the whole experience a struggle though, has been the lack of sleep. I love sleep, bedtime is my favourite time of day haha! From about 4 months pregnant I began to struggle, SPD started to kick in and my bump started to get bigger.. and bigger!

I had a pregnancy pillow with my previous pregnancies but that had long since been given away. Although to be honest it was not the best pillow as I used to have to wake up properly to turn over – and believe me I turn over a lot so that is a lot of lost sleep! As much as it helped with making me comfortable, it was absolutely massive and with all the tossing turning it just wasn’t the best buy I made.

A few months ago I was contacted by Dreamgenii. I had been on the lookout for a pillow so they got in touch at the perfect time. Just looking at the photos on their site I could see that it was a simple design and one that wouldn’t take over the whole bed. Perfect!

I have been using it for the past 4 months and will continue using it until the end of my pregnancy. It offers great support for your bump and even though I am tall at 5′ 9” the long part still reaches down to sit nicely between my knees. It is small enough that it doesn’t impose on Mr F’s side of the bed and it isn’t a struggle to turn over and rearrange my legs due to the simple design.

The best bit for me though (and actually something it has taken me a couple of months to take advantage of) is the back support. As well as SPD, I have been suffering with hip pain, as if there is a build up of lactic acid in my joints or something. It was driving me mad but about a month ago I decided to lean backwards a little rather than sleep completely on my side. No more pain!! The fact that the Dreamgenii has a back support means that there is no risk of me rolling onto my back but it means I can ease the pressure on my hips.

If you are on the hunt for a pillow, one that doesn’t take over the bed and that provides bump, leg and back support, then this one is perfect!

Brilliant design and finally you are getting some relief from pain and sleep. As mums we know a little bit of sleep goes a long way to getting through the day. Not long now hon xx
