Last weekend we went to Mr F’s Grandma’s for a belated birthday celebration. He shares his birthday with his sister in law so the whole family came together to celebrate, albeit a week late due to our holiday!
His Grandma’s house is where birthdays have been celebrated for years and years and each time is the same. The brothers disappear down to the bottom of the garden to play football, leaving the girls behind to chat!
I took along a game to play this time though and we had such a laugh! It is called Shout! and boy does it get you yelling out the answers. I may be a little competitive when it comes to things like this so it really got me jumping up and down in frustration!!
The aim of the game is to give as many answers as you can in the given time. Many of the cards have 9 squares and each picture or clue is linked, you must give the answers based on the link given. We divided into two teams and got going!
One side of the unit shows the pictures and the other side is for the eyes of your opponents. They are given the question to read out and the answers for each of the squares.
Some of the cards are trickier, the wordsearches were particularly difficult when you are against the clock! What words can you spot?
Teams can also choose to play the Double or Nothing card, if you get all of the answers you get double points and if you get just one wrong then you walk away with nothing. It makes you panic just that bit more and we didn’t manage to get the full house when we tried it!
You are given a score out of 9 each time, one point per answer, and use little pegs to mark your score at the base of the unit- the first team to get to 69 is the winner! We were having such a laugh we actually lost track of the scores and carried on regardless!
This game is perfect for playing with friends, I know I will be taking it down to our best friends’ house at the end of August as it will be so much fun playing against another couple! It was great playing with family though and even Little G got involved with the picture round (although really it is for older children, 12+ being the recommended age).
