Paradise Wildlife Park – Charity Launch & New Enclosure

Last weekend we had the pleasure of being invited along to an amazing day out at Paradise Wildlife Park. I have mentioned before that I studied Zoology at University and therefore animals and animal conservation will always spark an interest for me. I have been a big fan of PWP for years and so it was so lovely to be able to help them celebrate a very special day.

This year marks their 33rd birthday and the year they launch as a charity – how amazing is that? The family bought out the park (originally Broxbourne Zoo) 33 years ago and at that time it was named as the worst in the country.

In those 33 years they have helped raise more than £5 million for conservations projects and wildlife causes in the UK and around the world. They are now seen as pioneers in their field and have won awards and been voted Hertfordshire’s top tourist attraction – I can agree with that one for sure!

With their new-found charity status they will continue to do amazing work for the world’s animals. I cannot wait to see how they get on!

We arrived a little early so had a little look around the park. We have been quite a few times before but each time is just as exciting for us.

Isn’t this lion statue gorgeous?

Our favourite animals to see are always the big cats, they are simply stunning aren’t they? Paradise Wildlife Park are the only park in the UK to have all 5 of the big cats and that is pretty special in itself.

As well as celebrating their birthday and their new charity status, the day was also about a wonderful new enclosure – Penguin Falls. We were invited along to see the official opening and of course see the penguins themselves. They are so cute and the girls were able to feed them which they did not stop talking about for the rest of the day!

The main event was held in The Marquee and we were treated to an amazing lunch and some brilliant entertainment. We also heard some inspiring talks from the family before exploring the park for ourselves.

Here are a few photos from our day …

We had such a great day and will definitely be heading back there over the next few months as it is always so much fun.

I filmed the day as you can get such a better feel from video can’t you?

Have you been to Paradise Wildlife Park before? If not then why not head over to their website to find out more!
