Wow it seems like ages since we did anything themed! Being away on holiday has really thrown me but we are back and I have no work all summer now so can focus on the girls 100%.
Little G is obsessed with the alphabet at the moment, if she’s sung the ABC song once she’s sung it a million times!! All good though and her sounds are coming along great. I do worry that her teachers are going to think I am some sort of pushy parent as she knows so much but hand on heart it is all her own doing!
So what have we been up to besides singing our ABC’s?
PLAYDOUGH
We got these cutters and the dough as part of our work with Baker Ross. I really love the playdough, it is much softer than other brands. It is also wheat and gluten free which is awesome as I don’t have to worry about Little L’s allergies.
PAINTING
I found this activity on Pinterest, I wouldn’t have thought to do it otherwise. Using the playdough cutters to stamp the paint- cool huh?
FLASH CARDS
She just loves to order her letters (any excuse to sing that song again!!). I really want to order some cards without a picture so we can make words- must remember to look on ebay. I know the brand I want too, they are what we used in my old school ReadWrite Inc so if you see any then get some for your kids (unless you are bidding against me haha!!).
PUZZLES
We haven’t done any puzzles in absolutely ages! It used to be one of her favourite things to do and as a baby she could do them blindfolded. I really should encourage her more and get her doing larger, more complicated ones!
I SPY
We play this game all the time, we alternate between colours and things beginning with… but these days her sounding out it so good we are able to do the original game more often than not.
CHALK BOARD/ WHITE BOARD
I bought an easel years ago and it has been the best thing ever. Both girls love it and use it all of the time. We did letter writing on the black board and then wrote words using magnetic letters on the whiteboard. I love the way kids sound out, it is why I love teaching reception age kids most.
