Nuby Natural Touch Steriliser & Dryer Review - What Katy Said

Bottle Feeding & Our Nuby Steriliser & Dryer

I have had different feeding journeys with each of my children, exclusively breastfeeding Gracie until 5 months, bottle feeding Lils from 7 weeks when she was diagnosed with CMPA and breastfeeding Wills despite his CMPA allergy. At the end of the day, all of my babies have been happy and I love them all exactly the same. I have realised that their happiness is affected by my own mental wellbeing and that is why, after 14 weeks of only breastmilk, I have introduced one formula feed a day.

It wasn’t an easy decision, as it meant going to the doctors and hope that they listen and give me the prescription formula that he needs. I had to battle with Lils but thankfully with a family history of allergies I didn’t have a battle at all this time. So, he is now having one bottle of Nutramigen at 10pm and it means that I can go to bed a little earlier in preparation for the other night feeds, leaving Mr F to give him a dream feed.

He is no stranger to bottles as I introduced them a while back with expressed milk. We use the Nuby Natural Touch Digital Breast Pump and I will continue to express should he need more bottle feeds in a day – always good to have a stash in the freezer! Up until now I had been using sterilising tablets as we only used bottles every now and then, but now with a daily bottle I didn’t want to waste the water and it was just a bit of a faff to be honest. Working with Nuby means I get to try out their latest products and they asked if I wanted to try their new Natural Touch Steriliser & Dryer. I liked the fact that it dries the bottles too – that way they are ready when I need them.

Nuby bottles in steriliser

Main Features

  • Kills 99.9% of germs
  • Uses natural steam sterilisation
  • Automatically dries your bottles after sterilisation
  • Keeps bottles and other feeding accessories sterile for 24 hours, if lid is unopened
  • Holds 5 bottles and compatible with all bottle types
  • Works to sterilise breast pumps, soothers and other feeding accessories.

It is the only steriliser to dry bottles after sterilisation and it works really well. I like that you can keep the bottles in there too as I’ll be honest – my cupboards are fit to burst!

It has 3 different cycles, depending on how quickly you need your bottles. All you need to do is press down on the button until the light corresponding to the function you need shines blue. You then just need to hold down the button for 3 seconds to select it and the cycle will begin.

Sterilise – This is the quickest cycle and takes just 5 minutes.

Sterilise and Quick-Dry – This is a 5 minute sterilisation followed by a 15 minute dry. There is a little moisture left on the bottles but nothing more than a mist really – compared to the condensation left by other machines.

Sterilise and Super-Dry – This is the full works with 5 minutes sterilisation and 30 minutes drying. The bottles are completely dry and ready to go!

We mainly use the sterilise function at the moment as there is just no need to use the full cycle with one bottle a day. As time goes on I will move over to more bottles and those cycles will be so handy. The drying function is such a great idea and means the sterilisation process is complete!

It is such a nice looking unit and fits snugly on my counter top. It is easy to use and easy to clean too – it has made the transition to bottles easy for us as a family. I just need to try and convince Wills that Nutramigen doesn’t taste of mouldy old socks!

That’s really good that the doctors listened to you this time. I had to battle getting Arlo prescription formula too. It’s one bonus of being third baby round, I’m finding that doctors generally don’t question me like they did when it was my first baby. I’m still not used to them just taking my word for it, so it’s always nice when that happens! Hope he’s getting on a bit better with the nutramigen, it’s really not the best of smells!
