I have been blogging for 2 months now and through linkys and social media I have come across so many amazing blogs! It is a whole new world to me and quite honestly I am annoyed at myself for not joining in sooner! I feel like I have found a little space of my own, something I haven’t had since leaving work 3 years ago. I have now recently started vlogging (3 days ago to be precise!) and I am already loving it!
I had seen a few other vlogs, some review types, some following daily life and others in the form of tutorials. I wanted to get involved but really didn’t know what I could offer to the table. Besides teaching I am not a specialist in anything and I don’t have anything to review. So all that left was my daily life.
The idea of walking around with a video camera while pushing a double buggy filled me with dread so I had to think up a suitable alternative. That is when I came up with Dressing Table Diaries. A time just for me, a time to sit down and do my face and chat about the day.
I don’t know about you but I have really struggled keeping myself looking nice since having children. I barely have time to brush my teeth let alone wear makeup. I see other mums and wonder how they manage to look so gorgeous when I feel like a scruffbag! Hubby asked me why I no longer make an effort and I threw him a ‘how the hell am I supposed to find time for that!’ look. He hasn’t asked again.
So what is their secret?
Other mums, those glamorous sorts, make time! That is it. They recognise that if they do not make time they don’t get the time. That is not to say they are bad mothers, ‘neglecting’ their children for that time. Far from it! They have realised that they are important too. Just because you become a mum doesn’t mean you stop being a woman. You deserve that time. We all deserve that time!
So, I have started making time for myself. And do you know what? My children are fine! For those 15-20 minutes Baby L gurgles in her cot or joins me on my bed and Little G plays in her room. Finally after almost 3 years of looking a mess every single day I am now putting makeup on just for me. I’m not saying a full face but a little bit of foundation and powder and I feel like the old me.
So, a few days in someone suggested I should make it into a linky. At first I thought, why would anyone want to link in with this? But then after I thought some more I realised I can’t be the only one that needs to make time for myself. Having my vlog has given me a reason to sit at my dressing table again and you should have that time too!
So will you join me? You don’t have to be a blogger or a vlogger, just have access to a camera of sorts. Just film yourself getting ready in the morning, chat about whatever you like whether that be nonsense (like me) or something more important to you.
Take a look at my YouTube channel to see what I have already done and then link up your own version below!
I will go first!

Brilliant idea for a linky! I'm too shy to film myself though I'm afraid! x
