My Little Rays Of Sunshine

Last week we finished off a very busy week with a trip to our local lavender field. You may have caught the last time we visited, such a gorgeous place! The best thing is that once the Lavender starts to fade they have a sunflower field right next door!

We love sunflowers so we went along with my mum and our friends to see the field of yellow.

picking sunflowersThe girls got straight in and went on the hunt for the perfect sunflower. I have to say as beautiful as they were I think they were a little past their best. I think next year we will go a little earlier to catch the best crop!

girls running in the sunflowersOnce Little G had found the flower for her she had a good old go at cutting it down. It isn’t like the lavender, where you can pick as much as you can, instead you pay 50p per flower.

Little G sunflowersBefore we finished with the sunflowers I enlisted my mum as my personal photographer, she didn’t do too badly!! We are so lucky to live in such beautiful countryside, I sometimes forget as we are so close to London.

me and sunflowersWe had been given a bag to collect lavender once again so we popped over to the lavender fields, as you can see they are almost grey now where the plants have dried over the summer.

I have enjoyed this summer so much, for the the first time in years I am not pregnant or nursing a newborn and so I am finally able to be me and enjoy my children!

Have you had a good summer?

Beautiful! I lover sunflowers. And lavender. And flowers in general! Martin and I visited in May, too early for the flowers and we're planning a return visit xx

Wow. I love sunflowers. Our attempts at growing them failed dismally this year! Where is this place?

It is probably too late for this year but beginning of August is probably best, you must have only just missed them x
