Having been blogging for just over a year now I have been to every event in the blogging calender. I have enjoyed them all for various reasons, some I would go to again, some possibly not. This weekend I went to Blog On Win and I can say without a shadow of a doubt I will be there again next year!
I travelled down with my lovely friend Sian from Quite Frankly She Said, picking her up at the crack of dawn to travel 2 hours down the M25 to Winchester. It was lovely being able to chat on the journey- I am going to drag her along to every event now haha!
We arrived in plenty of time and met up with Steph (Diary of A Midlife Mummy) and Aby (You Baby Me Mummy). Always so nice to see a friendly face and have hugs. Blogging can be such a lonely job sometimes and it is events like these that mean you get to meet your colleagues in person rather than chatting over social media. Once inside I found Amy (Everything Mummy) my lovely co-host on Kids Corner. I say I found her but actually she spotted me and I almost walked past her I was so overwhelmed by the crowd of people! I also had a big hug from the gorgeous Em (snowing indoors) – blogging has brought these lovely people in to my life and I am so grateful. I also got to meet lots of new people too, people I know only through Twitter or Facebook so that was great!
The talks were inspiring, I didn’t learn anything in a technical aspect or anything that is going to make me transform my blog drastically but each and every speaker got me thinking. The first by about social media made me wonder how on earth I am going to be a purple cow (I will talk about this another day I think) and Annie’s photography talk really got me thinking about my photography and what I need to do to make it more uniform.
Laura is a very hands on organiser and spoke twice, once as part of a panel which really got me thinking about how I work with brands and once on her own where she discussed the nuts and bolts of being a brand ourselves. It has really given me food for thought and either Aby or I will share more over on Live. Love. Blog. in the coming weeks.
The finale was a hilarious performance from The Scummy Mummies. Everyone was wetting themselves- such a great way to end an event!
I think the main thing people come away with (quite literally) is the generosity of the brands who sponsor the event really are. The goodie bags were the best I have ever received and the raffle (who doesn’t love a raffle) was just amazing!! The first prize was a whole table of toys! Just fab!! I came home with so many brilliant products!
If you are looking for an event to go to then make this one your number one choice! See you next year!
