My Childhood Memories

I love reading memes and am always excited when I get tagged in one. I was talking about earliest memories the other day and it gave me the idea for this meme- answering 10 questions about your childhood. I love remembering times gone by and so thought it would be fun to tag others to see what their memories were too.

The idea is simple, answer the questions and pass the meme along by tagging your friends.

10 Childhood Memories

1. What is your earliest memory?

You may think I am making it up but hand on heart my earliest memory is from when I was 6 months old. I can remember being wheeled into a big hall and seeing a long table. I can also remember being fed After Eight mints. I remember telling my mum this story when I was younger and she had no idea what I was talking about, but the more I described it the more she remembered and then told me it was a friend’s wedding and I was a baby. There are no photos and she had never mentioned it so the only answer is that I truly remembered.

2. Did you have a favourite toy?

I had 3 bears- Big Ted, Mummy Ted and Baby Ted. I took them everywhere with me for years and years. They are somewhere at my mum’s house now, in a box in her loft after she moved from my childhood home. I really must find them!

3. Who was your first best friend?

My very first best friend was called Kirsten, she lived in the most amazing house and had a trunk of dressing up clothes. I always loved putting on the princess hat and hula hula skirt- great combo I know!

4. Who was your first crush?

I was in love with a boy called Andrew when I was 5 years old. He loved me too and we were going to get married. Unfortunately he moved away and I never saw him again. Sad times!

5. Did you have a favourite teacher?

Without a doubt it was my reception teacher Mrs Dew. I don’t know if that is why I became a reception teacher myself- to be that first impression for a child. She was just so kind and gentle.

6. What clothes sum up your childhood?

Oh dear, I think the 80s and early 90s were just so awful. I spent the first few years of my life in Laura Ashley floral dresses and then the later part of my childhood in dreadful baggy trousers.

7. What was your worst injury as a child?

I have never broken a bone thankfully but I did fall off my bike when I was 6. I fell into the handlebar and it stabbed me in the chest. I now have a scar as a reminder and quite honestly it always made me rather wary of riding a bike.

8. What was your favourite song?

I loved Take That- I was going to marry Mark Owen! I had every one of their albums and theirs was the very first CD I bought.

9. What was your favourite book?

The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark was always one of my favourites- what is not to love about an owl named Plop?

10. What did you get from the sweet shop?

Do you remember when you could buy sweets for a penny???? My mum used to give me 10p on a Friday and I would buy 10 white mice. 10p!!!! Crazy!!
