Inside: A review of the Maxi Micro Deluxe Eco Scooter. Includes gifted items.
We have been fans of Micro Scooters for a long time. We first discovered them with our eldest and it made the school run so much smoother – no more tired legs. Our youngest hadn’t needed a scooter up until now but with the walk to and from school being too much for his little legs we knew where to turn.
Micro Scooters are durable and innovative – with designs for all ages to last them through the years with replaceable parts available if and when you need them. They have now created the Eco Scooter that takes the scooter family to the next level.
We were sent the Maxi Micro DELUXE ECO Scooter to review and honestly it is just a thing of beauty.
Who are Micro Scooters?
Micro Scooters was set up by Anna and Philippa, 2 mums that know how crazy life can be and how it is the little things in life that can make all the difference. After discovering the Mini Micro and how it transformed their school run each morning, they knew that they needed to bring that joy to every other parent.
Over 2 million children now enjoy riding scooters around and about, making journeys more fun wherever they go.
Something they really believe in is creating scooters that stand the test of time. That is why they have created several schemes to help that become a reality.
Not only are the scooters built to last, but should anything need replacing you don’t need to throw the whole thing away and buy a new one – simply order the replacement part needed, follow the instructional videos and away you go again.
When the day comes that you no longer need the scooter, you can take advantage of their ScooterAid scheme. Simply return the scooter to them (for free) and they will give it a revamp and donate it to a good cause in the UK.
Either way, the scooters will have a long long life and continue to bring joy to children. You can’t ask more than that.
The Eco Scooter
The concept is simple; take a plastic that is clogging up the ocean and of no use to the original owner … fishing nets. Use these to create something that is not only beautiful but functional too.
Fishing nets account for 10% of marine litter. Each year they kill or injure millions of animals, including dolphins, whales and turtles as well as causing damage to coral reefs. By taking these nets and transforming them into plastic decks for the scooters, it is one step closer to cleaner oceans.

The Maxi Micro Deluxe Eco Scooter
The scooter works in just the same way as other Maxi scooters in the range – easy to ride, easy to stop and lots of accessories to go with it.
Since it arrived it has been put through the paces, back and forth from school on sunny days and rainy days. We also took it with us on holiday to make family walks a breeze.
The thing I like about the Micro Scooter range is that they are adjustable. With the simple operation of a latch, you are able to raise the handles to suit the height of your child. The Maxi is suitable from ages 5-12 and so you just raise it up as they get taller.
The break works by applying pressure to the wheel via a back plate. Nice and simple for little ones to get to grips with.
The scooter turns by tilting from one side to the other – such an innovative way to create movement but one that is so intuitive for children that they are soon scooting like experts.
Accessories
As well as the scooters themselves, there are some pretty cool accessories that can be added on to make it even more amazing. What makes them better is that the Eco accessory range is made using recycled platic that would otherwise carry on polluting the oceans.
They remove plastics from the ocean and transform them into rPET – recycled polyester yarn that is used to create their accessories. Genius!
Isn’t the helmet gorgeous? Such a lovely colour and the whales and dolphins on the side serve as a reminder of the good that is done by buying an Eco helmet.
Something new to use is their rucksack lunch bag. With an insulated inner it will keep lunch cool while you are out and about.
The clever bit is behind the scenes though. It isn’t clipped on as other accessories are, but instead the straps loop round the handles and you clip it to itself using poppers. So clever!
If they don’t want to have it on the scooter, they can take it off and wear it as a rucksack. So cute!
These hand-warmers are coming in handy now that the weather is turning colder here. Again, they slip over the handles and popper on. Slip their hands inside and grip onto the handles as normal while keeping warm.
Bottle holders are handy for their school water bottles or if you are off on a family walk. No more having to carry it, just slip in in the holder that is clipped onto the stem of the scooter.

Final thoughts
We’ve had Micro Scooters for the girls and loved them. The new Eco range takes all of the elements that we love about the range and makes them even better because we know we are helping clean up the planet.
