The other day we went to a wedding of a friend and had the best day. We thought we were going to get soaked after the downpours of last week but by some sort of miracle the sun shone the whole day! We set off early (to make the 7 minute journey around the corner…) and of course arrived before anyone else! Just as well though as we were told the ceremony was going to be held down by the lake in the grounds.
We set off towards the lake where we saw a small gathering of people. Lovely being local as we knew the majority of the guests- all being childhood friends of Mr F.
We were given a little drink to keep us happy while we waited for the bride. The wedding was all outdoors and a little bit of a different set-up to usual!
Little G loves the outdoors so set off to look for butterflies!
The groomsmen laid out picnic blankets for us all as we were to sit on one side of the lake while the actual ceremony took place at the lake house on the other side. Really nice as it meant I didn’t have to worry about the girls making noise throughout.
Once the ceremony was over it was time to shower the newlyweds with rose petals!
The reception was held at her parent’s house just around the corner so we hopped in the car and went to see what awaited us!
The whole set-up was gorgeous with hay bales to sit on and tipis with long wooden tables for the wedding breakfast- so perfect! I said actually if I were to have my time again I would do something similar- just a shame we were the first to be married!
I was driving so opted for lemonade, Mr F on the other hand opted for one too many Pimms!!
The girls were fantastic all day and it made me so proud when people came up to tell me so. They never once moaned, just spent the whole day running around laughing, enjoying the surroundings.
Unfortunately I have no photos of dinner as I was so hungry I ate it up before you could say cheese! It was delicious though- pie! Mmmmmm!
As soon as dinner and the speeches were finished the music came on and Little G was up on the dancefloor. She didn’t care that she was the only one and pranced about throwing some mean shapes! LJ joined her eventually and then was very put out when the bride and groom wanted the floor to themselves for their first dance!!
Here is a photo of the 4 of us, I am so concious of making sure I am in the photo these days. Lovely to create the memories as a family!
We had an amazing day and it made me so excited for October when the girls and I are going to be bridesmaids for my best friend- I cannot wait!!
Have you been to any good weddings recently?
