Life Lately – May 2021

I used to write these regularly but somewhere along the way I have lost the habit. I also used to take a monthly photo of the 5 of us but that hasn’t happened in such a long time and that is a real shame! So here we are, I am starting it up again.

So what’s new?

I’ve applied for a job – that’s probably the biggest news around here. It is a work from home position and it would be absolutely perfect for me. Hopefully the company think so too – I will keep you updated on that one. There isn’t a rush for me to get a job but I saw it and loved the look of it so much that I had to apply. If I don’t get it I will just keep on working freelance until something else catches my eye.

Other than that I am still working from home as before, working with brands and creating content on here to help you with various topics. This site is my absolute passion so no matter what happens, I will always continue writing here and sharing on social media.

Family news

I had to apply for a reception place for William and a junior place for Lily and they both got their places. It was never in doubt with the sibling rule coming into effect but still, it is always a little nerve-wracking on the day.

I can’t believe that they are old enough for school/ junior school already – time has just flown by. In my head, both of them are still toddlers and Grace is maybe about 5 years old (but she will be TEN in September!!).

Health

As I write this, I have a cold that has knocked me for six. After a year of no germs getting to us as a family I think my body has gone into some sort of shock. Not sure I have ever felt so knocked out from a cold as I have been. Definitely not COVID before you worry about me, just a plain old snotty cold brought home by Lily. Bloody schools and their germs!

My health has not been great mentally this year. I think everyone can relate to having suffered because of COVID, can’t they? I think having so much time to ourselves, without socialising and keeping busy, has made us look inward and notice things that we maybe were too busy to see before.

I for one have been very stressed and it has made a big impact on my anxiety and ability to function well. It is so hard to admit it out loud but I have been to the doctors and am under their care now. I am working hard to try and build myself up again and I tell you what – the power of meditation is amazing!

Style

I have started using Stitch Fix to try and help me create a classic wardrobe. I was a little skeptical to begin with as I didn’t think it would be a human choosing the things. But I have been so happy with the choices each month that I really look forward to seeing what my stylist chooses for me. I haven’t bought everything in the box each time because as much as I have liked everything I don’t want to buy for the sake of buying.

If you want to give it a go then you’ll get £15 off your first box with this affiliate link for Stitch Fix

What I’m reading

We’ve been able to get back to the library recently and honestly, I’d forgotten how much I love it there. Best day out we’d had in ages! I picked up a couple of books and am working my way through them.

Better Than Before by Gretchen Rubin. Love it – all about habit forming and her writing style is just up my street.

Speak Your Truth by Fearne Cotton. Hated it. Didn’t get past chapter one as it was all a bit ‘me me me’ and flicking through it I couldn’t see anywhere that told me how to speak MY truth. Ah well.

Before The Crown by Flora Harding. Oh my word I love it so much. I loved watching The Crown on Netflix and this covers everything before, where Elizabeth meets Philip for the first time and how they fall in love. Almost at the end but I don’t want it to end!

Normally I’d share some photos from days out but as you can imagine, we haven’t been anywhere. I cannot wait to be able to get out more and more (and not just the local field!) and take advantage of the weather brightening up.
