Imaginative Play With Shimmer and Shine™

Both of my girls have amazing imaginations, they are always making up games together with their own little in-jokes and language. One of their favourite programs right now is Shimmer and Shine™, they love the twin sisters and their pets Tala & Nahal, so when I was asked to take a look at the new range from Fisher-Price® I knew they would love it!

The first toy we were sent was the Float & Sing Palace Friends Playset and this is their favourite to play with together. They can have a doll each and a pet each, perfect for making up their own little stories.

The sofa has a little lever so they can ‘float’ their genie up and down and the button at the front plays the theme tune and some joint phrases from the magical pair.

Most of the time they are too busy chattering about the magical wishes they are going to make for each other. A key message from the show is that every child has power within them to try and succeed, I love that they can think about their wishes and try and make them come true.

Shimmer and Shine™ also aims to show children that plans don’t always go smoothly but that they can always be put right again with teamwork. I want my girls to work as a team, to always know they have each other, so I love that the program reinforces that idea for them.

The second toy from the range is the Talk and Sing doll. Lils immediately took ownership of Shine and has had her in her bed ever since she arrived!

You squeeze her tummy and she says a series of phrases and also plays the theme tune from the show.

I love her sparkly genie look, I need to see if I can get the girls some outfits so they can dress up too!

The whole Shimmer and Shine range is lovely, with lots of other products to choose from, all of which foster imaginative play and reinforce the idea of resilience, through the magical adventures of twin genies-in-training.
