Inside: How To Have A Spa Day At Home. Collaborative post.
Life might be stressful at times, but this should not be a major issue. Why? The truth is that everyone has stress from time to time; there is always a lot to do, and it appears that there aren’t enough hours in the day to get it all done.
Add to it the added pressures of being a parent, and it’s no surprise that we can feel overwhelmed at times.
Obviously, if this feeling lasts too long, it can be very bad and lead to a lot of mental and physical health problems. When this happens, you’ll need help from a professional, but if this is just “normal” stress, all you need to do is ensure that you set aside some time for yourself and allow yourself to relax.
If you can do this, you’ll feel much happier and healthier and ready to face your problems head-on. One option is to give yourself a great spa day at home. Here are some ways to do that.
A Restorative Bath
If you think about it in a general way, soaking for an hour or so in a tub full of warm water might not seem like that much fun. However, a restorative bath can be just what you need to relax and calm down. This is the best way to end or start a spa day at home, but you have to do it a certain way.
This means: draw the water until it’s just right (depending on how you like it; too hot can raise your blood pressure, which is not relaxing at all, so be careful); turn off the lights and light candles; play your favorite music; add essential oils or bubble bath to the tub; and use some gorgeous natural products to make yourself feel great, like Ethique shampoo bars.
You’ll be able to fully appreciate the water and your time alone if you do this or something similar. Why not add some chamomile tea to sip or, if you prefer, a glass of wine? After you get out of the tub, put on a soft robe and slippers to make yourself feel like you’re at a real spa.
Have A Facial
If you only have time for one part of your body to focus on during your spa day, make it your face. After all, it is the portion of your body that others see on a daily basis. If you take care of your face, it will help you feel good about yourself and boost your self-esteem.
For a more memorable event on your at-home spa day, gather some items you would never use in a typical setting. It is possible to create your own face washes and moisturizers with high-end ingredients (or common household things if you’re on a tighter budget).
Try a face mask once you’ve finished cleansing, and it will leave you feeling rejuvenated. You should hopefully notice a change when you look in the mirror.
Have A Mani/Pedi
Your hands are another prominent feature, so why not treat yourself to a manicure? Doing this is a great opportunity to tend to your toenails as well (a pedicure, in other words). There’s a meditative quality to giving yourself a mani or pedi; put on some soothing tunes, dim the lights, and let your mind wander as you focus on the task at hand.
Your ability to unwind will improve as soon as you remove all external stimuli from your mind, including the worries and problems that have been keeping you up at night.
