How to Keep Kids Entertained on a Flight: Our KeepEmQuiet Pack Review. Includes press sample.
As any parent knows, travelling with kids can be a bit of a gamble. One minute they’re happily colouring, the next they’re loudly asking (for the tenth time) “Are we there yet?”. So when I was sent a KeepEmQuiet® pack to try out ahead of our upcoming family holiday to Mallorca, I was intrigued – it is such a great idea!
We’ll be flying later this year, and with an 8-year-old boy who’s constantly on the go, I’ve been racking my brain for ways to keep him occupied during the journey. Enter KeepEmQuiet® – a brand I hadn’t actually come across before, but now I’m wondering how I ever planned a trip without it.

What Is KeepEmQuiet®?
If you’re not familiar, KeepEmQuiet® is a British company that specialises in travel entertainment packs for children. They’ve cleverly curated different options based on age and gender, which I found super helpful as a mum who knows that what keeps an 8-year-old boy entertained is wildly different from what worked when he was 3.
The idea is simple but brilliant: fill a reusable bag with a variety of fun, screen-free activities to keep little ones busy during long journeys – whether you’re travelling by plane, train or car.
First Impressions
When the pack arrived, it was beautifully presented in a reusable bag – ideal as it won’t take up much room in hand luggage. My son’s eyes lit up immediately, and of course he was desperate to dive in straight away. I managed to hold him off so we could keep most of the surprises for the flight, but we did sneak a peek inside… and wow!

It genuinely felt like a mini treasure trove. The contents were really well thought out and age-appropriate. I know he is going to be entertained and occupied for the whole journey there and back again.
What’s Inside?
Here’s a sneak peek of what was in our pack (boys age 5 years+):

- Activity books – sticker book, reading and writing book, and a colouring set – different activities to suit his mood at the time.
- Travel games – by far his favourite as he loves chess. The pieces are magnetic too meaning no small pieces flying down the aisle.
- Craft kit – a little DIY make-your-own model plane set which looked like it would take just the right amount of concentration.
- Velvet poster art set – an oldie but a goodie and it comes with pens too.
- Craft kit – I am going to save this for a quiet day when we are actually on holiday.
- A pack of cards – compact, fun and easy to play mid-air.
- Keyring – perfect for personalising his bag
- Crayons – ideal for little hands
There was a lovely balance of quiet activities, hands-on fun, and brain teasers—all carefully chosen to appeal to a child that age. Everything felt high quality and thoughtfully selected. They will all fit on the little tray table on the flight and mean he isn’t causing any bother to our fellow passengers.

The contents will vary from pack to pack of course, and if you have younger children than mine then you’ll get age appropriate activities to suit their interests. At the moment, there aren’t packs for older children, but to be honest my girls are happy reading lots of books on long journeys – although I’m sure they will join in with some card games.
Why I Love It (and You Will Too)
What really sold it for me, aside from the quality, is the sheer convenience. I usually end up doing a “panicked parent shop”, grabbing overpriced sticker books that never quite hit the mark. With KeepEmQuiet®, everything is sorted ahead of time—no last-minute stress, no clutter, and no unnecessary faff.
It’s also incredibly portable. Everything fits in that one handy bag, which means no rooting around in your handbag for crayons that have rolled under your seat mid-flight (we’ve all been there, right?). It’ll also double as his personal entertainment kit once we’re in Mallorca—perfect for quiet moments at the house or during downtime between adventures.
Plus, I love that this company was started by fellow parents who clearly “get it”. The care and attention put into these packs really shows. They even have options for girls and boys of different age ranges, as well as an amazing sensory fidget kit that I know my middle daughter would love as she is obsessed with fidget toys.
Great for All Occasions
While we’ll be using ours for our flight, I can see these being perfect for a long car ride, staycations, or even just rainy days at home when you need something new to break the screen time cycle for young kids. They’d also make a brilliant gift for birthdays or Christmas.
And let’s be honest—there’s something really magical about your child delving into a bag full of surprises. My son already calls it his “holiday fun pack” and has proudly put it in his suitcase pile… even though we’re not flying for another couple of months!
Final Verdict
If you’re travelling with young children anytime soon – especially on a long flight, I honestly can’t recommend KeepEmQuiet® enough. It takes the stress out of packing entertainment, avoids the airport shop scramble, and best of all—it actually works. My son was engaged and excited just looking through it at home, so I’ve got high hopes for the flight. All I need to do is fill it with lots of snacks and we are good to go!
It’s one of those things I didn’t realise I needed until I had it – and now I wouldn’t travel without one.
