De-cluttering My Life #happinessproject

Over the past few weeks I have written a few posts which have been aimed at promoting happiness and well-being. I have really enjoyed writing them and the lovely comments I received showed me that people enjoy uplifting posts. If you haven’t read them already I would love it if you had a look at my posts ‘Embracing Change’ and ‘Finding my Purpose in Life’.

Several people have recommended I read the book ‘The Happiness Project’ by Gretchen Rubin. Have you heard of it? I hadn’t, but it sounded right up my street so I ordered it from Amazon and eagerly awaited its arrival.

It was delivered on Saturday and I have been busy reading it at every opportunity! Everything I have read so far is common sense I suppose but sometimes it takes reading it all in one place to make you actually recognise you need to change. The author, Gretchen, writes it almost like a diary- documenting her journey to happiness month by month.

It is not a self help book, I am glad about that as I do not like having to do exercises or tasks- I inevitably end up feeling like a failure. No, instead you take from it what you wish and hopefully she inspires you to make changes in your life too.

I am going to follow her lead and try to find my happy throughout 2015. Not that I am totally miserable you must understand but I do sometimes struggle with happiness and I know I could make many changes which would help me make the best out of every day.

First step- decluttering. I am a hoarder by nature and being surrounded by huge piles of mess is not good for you. I have spent most of today getting rid of surface clutter and I intend on digging deeper until the whole house is clutter free. This is just the first step and I will document month by month the changes I make and how I feel.

Why don’t you join me?

Haha! I used to be like that, now when I pick something up I think to myself 'do I need it? Do I love it?' If it doesn't meet the criteria then it is gone! x

This sounds like a great book and think I will get onto Amazon for it as I totally agree with not being miserable but need direction for this year. Love this post x
