Glamping at Berridon Farm, North Devon - What Katy Said

Glamping at Berridon Farm, North Devon

A couple of weekends ago you will have seen we were down in North Devon on the most beautiful farm, glamping in amazing cabins in a field of buttercups. It couldn’t have been any more idyllic if it tried! We love camping but it is always nicer to have a few more creature comforts and the cabins at Berridon Farm are perfect for families. The farm is owned by Jenny & Dave, they made us feel so welcome and have created such a lovely environment – I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to escape their busy lifestyle for a few days.

The reason for our visit was to celebrate the arrival of the summer sun with Superdrug. They provided us with everything we needed for a weekend away, from shampoo to suncream, and organised plenty of things to keep us busy. I have always shopped in Superdrug but I am not entirely sure I have ever bought any of their own brand products, but after sampling everything I am now converted and have since been back into store to get more!

We arrived Friday evening and with the light evenings we were able to enjoy a dip in the hot tub and take a few photos as the sun was going down.

As soon as we set foot on the farm I knew we were going to have an amazing time. It was so peaceful, with no electricity to detract from what is truly important. The more I slow down, the more I focus on my family, the more I realise how much I have missed over the years. A slower pace of life is so much nicer and that is one thing I have taken back home with me.

Once the children were in bed, Mr F and I enjoyed the last of the sun. Normally our evenings are spent watching tv or with me working, so it was nice to chat and enjoy each other’s company properly.

The following morning we had sausage sandwiches delivered to our cabin by the lovely Jenny. We all slept like logs, waking up refreshed and ready for a day of fun! The girls made friends with the children in the cabin next door and so spent the morning playing on the swings with them, while Mr F and I relaxed on the veranda.

After a lazy start, we headed up to the main farmhouse where they have a barn converted into a shower block. The girls were excited to use their new toothbrushes and toothpaste and I was excited to use my new makeup! My favourite new product is the Optimum PhytoCellTec day cream. Mr F is also fully converted into a moisturising routine after trying the B. Hydrating Gel in the men’s range.

The afternoon was spent at the beach, with Mr F and I taking turns having surfing lessons. I totally forgot to take a photo of us in our wetsuits – an excuse to go again! It was so much fun, I would recommend having a go if you ever get the chance.

While we were having lessons, the kids happily played on the beach building sandcastles.

Wills in his hat, I do love it but he won’t keep it on for more than 2 minutes! Thankfully Superdrug had given us something I hadn’t seen before – hair & scalp sun spray. Such a great idea and meant his little head was protected. Something I found out recently actually was that suncreams have star ratings. The Solait range has 5 stars, the best you can get!

With sand in our toes, we headed back to the farm. They have installed the cutest baby bath I have ever seen in one of the shower cubicles. This is one for the wall for sure! We then went back to our caravan for a BBQ and the girls played with their new friends until the sun went down.

Isn’t this the best bed you’ve ever seen? There are 2 bedrooms, one double and one bunk, but the girls wanted to sleep in this secret bedroom and who can blame them! So much fun!

It was then time for breakfast in the main barn, along with other guests, before checking out and heading on our way.

The thing I liked about the site, was that there were no cars allowed. To transport your luggage from the car they provide you with wheelbarrows, along with Dave and his tractor and trailer for the bigger bits. The girls had to have a ride in a wheelbarrow of course!

We were so sad to leave but have decided we want to go back again, for longer next time. It is such a beautiful part of the country and we all loved the relaxed feel to the farm. Our weekend wasn’t quite over though as we had tickets to go to the Milky Way Adventure Park just down the road.

We spent quite a bit of time in this ball pit as it was huge and we had it all to ourselves! There was plenty of other things to keep us busy though, with bird displays, air trampolines and a couple of rollercoasters.

I have made a little video of our weekend so you can see the farm in a bit more detail and the fun we had. There is also some footage from the surfing although none of me – you’ll have to take my word for it that I stood up twice (albeit for 2 seconds).

A big thank you to Jenny & Dave for having us and to Superdrug for all of the lovely goodies – we are set for more summer fun now! I will also be doing a separate post all about the makeup as it is just fab!

That baby bath is fabulous – perfect photo op! We’re going glamping this summer and I’ve noticed all the sites seem to love outdoing each other’s bathrooms… the one we’re going to has them all in converted horse boxes!
