Baby L was born in the water and has always enjoyed bathtime. We bought her a bath seat, more like a lounger really and she always looks so laid back and relaxed but it means she can’t really get involved in bathtime properly. She probably could have stopped using it a while back but you sort of get stuck in a routine and so we have continued using it even though she can now sit up.
One of the most recent heat waves meant we were constantly out in the garden. One afternoon Baby L was looking longingly at her sister having so much fun in the paddling pool so I decided to sit her straight in, clothes and all!
To say she was excited would be an understatement! The joy on her face, as she was able to join in with her most favourite person, was so magical.
I don’t think she could quite understand how water works. She tried over and over again to grab it but it would just splash up in her face- you can see how much she was concentrating! I really like this photo as somehow (with my lowly camera phone) I managed to capture the water splash!
Despite the freezing cold water she was quite happy sitting in the pool for over half an hour. At one point she banged so hard on the water that a huge splash covered her from head to toe! The look of shock on her face was so funny and I think due to the fact that I laughed she was ok and gave a huge grin. I think most of the time children look to their parents for their reaction and if they look worried they then burst into tears. Mine get no sympathy from me unless they are truly hurt haha!
Since being in the paddling pool we have no packed away her bath seat and she now enjoys baths with Little G, splashing around in the bubbles. Most definitely a water baby!

Such a lovely back story to a very cute photo. I totally agree that babies learn how to react depending on how their parents behave. I remember firsts in he paddling pool - so lovely. Brilliant capture of the water droplets too.
