Expressions #01 – My little ballerina

This is my first expressions post and I am very excited to be starting this. I came across Helen’s blog via Twitter and found that she offers link-ups using her Expressions posts. I read through her post and it made me realise that although I take hundreds, if not thousands of photos of my children I don’t very often take one that captures life through an expression. I am not the world’s best photographer but I am a mum and I have two beautiful girls that are full of life. I am hoping I will learn something by starting this project, by taking a closer look at their lives.

I chose this photo as it captures Little G’s excitement. She started ballet after Easter and I don’t know that I have ever seen her so excited. It isn’t the best photo as she was whizzing around the room so fast (most of the other photos are just a blur!). Each time she passed by she would shout ‘Look Mummy!!’ and give the biggest grin.To say she is an enthusiastic learner would be an understatement. Every time her teacher would give the next instruction she would turn to me and announce it.

I wasn’t sure whether to take her to ballet, my sister had done it as a child and eventually gave it up when it was no longer ‘cool’. Did I want to waste all of our time? In the end I decided even if she did it for a year it would help her to develop socially and give her something to be proud of. I am SO glad I decided to go ahead. Every Friday she fetches her ballet clothes and rushes in to my room to get dressed.
The other night when she was having a bath I could hear her practicing ‘good toes, naughty toes’. Needless to say she thoroughly enjoys it!
