If you are part of the blogging world then you will have heard the buzz about nominations, it seems both the BiBs and the MADs are open for nominations now. When I opened up the email from the MADs I wondered whether or not to write about it or not and it seems I am not alone. It does seem a bit much doesn’t it? Asking people to choose you over thousands of other blogs out there and let’s be honest, us British aren’t ones to blow our own trumpets.
So, I almost didn’t throw my hat into the ring, almost thought about keeping quiet. But then I thought about last year – I actually made the finals!! The FINALS!!! Little old me and my corner of the internet! I didn’t win but that didn’t matter at all, I had an absolute ball and got the chance to hang out with all the other wonderful bloggers in the community.
It still shocks me to think that I made the finals, or even the shortlist to be honest. It was a Wednesday night and I had decided to have a night off from blogging. At around 10pm I had a little look at my phone to be met with a barrage of tweets and messages congratulating me. My jaw hit. the. floor. Was there a mistake? Well apparently not and so a few months later I glammed up and sat there waiting to see if I had won the title of Best Pre School Blog. Just crazy!!
Last year I did write a post asking for votes, I asked my friends and family to vote and it all paid off and I just want to take a minute to thank you all. To everyone who took the time to vote for me, it honestly made me so happy and proud of everything I had achieved to get to that point. I still find it amazing that people read my blog, I am just me and I share bits and bobs with you. To think that it resonates with people just makes me want to keep going and improve each and every day. Starting this blog has been the best decision I ever made and couldn’t imagine my life without it now. What it has become, a job and source of amazing opportunities, is all down to you. Without readers, without people commenting on posts, sending me thoughtful messages, I may have given up on it all.
So as I sat here wondering whether to ask for votes again, I heard my mum’s voice telling me don’t ask don’t get. True isn’t it? There are so many blogs out there so if you don’t remind people about you then they may not remember you when it comes to voting time. I would love to have your vote in the Best Lifestyle Blog category for the MADS this year. My blog has evolved a lot from last year’s nominations and as much as I still write about my girls and their adventures I now focus on so many other things and so lifestyle seems to be the best fit.
