Easter has always felt like the gentle beginning of the year for me. The days are stretching a little longer, the garden is beginning to wake up, and the house slowly fills with that feeling of spring returning.
I love marking the occasion with a simple family meal. Nothing complicated or overly style, just good food, a pretty table, and the quiet joy of sitting down together.
This year I wanted to create an Easter table that felt fresh, seasonal and welcoming, using a few lovely pieces from Very that make hosting both simple and beautiful.
Creating a Spring-Inspired Easter Table
For me, the easiest way to make a table feel special is to bring a little bit of the season indoors.
Instead of a traditional centrepiece, I used pots of spring bulbs, with tulips, daffodils and hyacinths dotted along the centre of the table. They bring colour, the most amazing scent and a sense of life to the table, and because they are planted bulbs they last much longer than cut flowers and can be planted outside once they have finished flowering.
I also scattered a few decorative eggs along the tablecloth, which instantly gives the table that gentle Easter feeling without being overly decorative.
The base of the table was kept calm and natural. A beige wipeable tablecloth with a soft leaf design created the perfect backdrop, practical for family meals but still pretty enough to feel special for the occasion.
On top of that, I layered simple rattan placemats which add warmth and texture. Natural materials always make a table feel relaxed and inviting, and they pair beautifully with spring colours.
To finish the place settings, I used a soft green Saintes dinner set which I absolutely love. Each piece feels really solid and the colour is subtle but fresh and it works beautifully with the neutral tones of the tablecloth and placemats.
The overall look felt calm, seasonal and welcoming, exactly the atmosphere I like for family gatherings.
A Stress-Free Easter Lunch
While I love cooking for my family, I don’t want to spend the entire day in the kitchen. Meals should feel relaxed, not stressful.
This is where a good kitchen appliance makes all the difference.
For our Easter meal I roasted a chicken along with some crispy roast potatoes using the Ninja CRISPi. I love meals like this, simple ingredients cooked well, with minimal fuss.
The chicken came out beautifully golden with crisp skin, while the potatoes were perfectly roasted and fluffy in the middle. It’s the sort of classic meal that always brings everyone to the table quickly. The children said they were the best roast potatoes I’d ever made!
What I particularly like about the Ninja CRISPi is how straightforward it is to use. When you’re hosting, the last thing you want is complicated cooking steps or lots of different pans to manage. Being able to cook a family meal efficiently means you can actually enjoy the occasion rather than feeling stuck in the kitchen.
I was able to use the larger dish for the chicken, and then while that rested I was able to use the smaller dish for the roast potatoes. So easy to switch between the two!
It allowed me to prepare a proper Sunday-style roast without the usual juggling act of oven trays and timing everything perfectly. 55 minutes for a perfectly roasted chicken is my idea of a win!
Making Easter Feel Special (Without Making It Complicated)
One of the things I’ve been leaning into more in recent years is simplifying celebrations.
It’s easy to think special occasions need elaborate decorations, complicated menus or lots of planning.
But actually, the things that people remember most are often the simplest moments: sharing a good meal, talking around the table, and taking time to slow down together.
For me, Easter hosting now looks like this:
• A seasonal table with flowers or bulbs
• A comforting home-cooked meal
• Dinnerware that makes the table feel welcoming
• And plenty of time to actually sit and enjoy it
The right tools and tableware simply make that easier.
Bringing Everyone Together
At its heart, Easter is about togetherness.
The table becomes the centre of the home for the afternoon, plates being passed around, stories being shared, and that comfortable sense of family life unfolding.
Creating a table that feels warm and welcoming helps set that tone from the moment everyone sits down.
This year’s Easter table feels exactly like that: simple, seasonal, and relaxed. Spring flowers, soft green plates, natural textures and a golden roast chicken in the centre.
Nothing complicated. Just a lovely way to gather everyone together.
