Inside: How mums can take a load off when feeling overwhelmed. Collaborative post.
Motherhood is one of the most rewarding experiences in the world. But, as any mother will tell you, you earn those rewards through stringent effort, focus, and hard work. There’s no way around that if you hope to be a present parent. Thankfully, while having this role can feel impossibly hard sometimes, there’s no reason why it should feel oppressive or suffocating. If it does, then never be afraid to speak out and talk about why you feel you’re struggling, because there’s no shame in it ever, and help is at hand.
Sometimes, though, all you need is to take a load off to feel refreshed and back to the natural vitality of motherhood. We’d argue that you could, and even should, take that load off. Even if you can’t justify spending on a babysitter, or have no one to come and take care of your beloved children for an evening, we believe some of the following advice can help. Without further ado, let’s help you reduce your stress levels. It’s the least you deserve:
Take A Comfortable Bath When You Can
There’s almost nothing better than having a long soak in a comfortable bath, and even indulging in a ‘bath bomb’ fragrance enhancer that can help you relax with care and make something beautiful out of the experience. Add some meditation music, and perhaps even a waterproof e-reader to enjoy a chapter or two, and you’ll no doubt be in heaven. But did you know you can also justify creating a relaxing spa bathroom in your own home? As you can see, indulgences doesn’t have to be something you search for, it can be right there at home.
Commit To Meditation Or Yoga
When your energy is all in rumination, stress, and worry, odds are you feel as if nothing can go right and that you’re not happy. It’s good to get that energy out, and to train your body so that you can reduce this stress when necessary. Then you can look at situations more clinically and realize it’s not that bad after all. Meditation or yoga can help with this, the latter especially so thanks to its ability to get you stronger, to help you feel more flexible, and more.
Catch Up On Sleep When You Can
Sleep is often a valuable resource when you’re a mother, because your children, lovely as they are, are very skilled at disturbing it. For this reason, it can be nice to follow suit and catch up on some shuteye when putting down your newborn for their afternoon nap. The same goes for lying in bed at the weekends if your children want to, or going to bed thirty minutes earlier each night to help you feel a little more well-rested in the morning. It might sound too simple, but good sleep can really turn around your day for the better in almost every respect.
With this advice, we hope you can take a load off from time to time, because all Mums deserve to.
