Baby Development – 9 months old

Where is the time going?? My 8 month baby development post was late and this one is now 25 days late too! I started writing this on her 9 month birthday but then totally forgot to come back and publish it!! It will be time to do the 10 month one soon!!

People keep asking when the next one will come along. I am still firmly in the ‘never’ camp. After 2 babies my body is tired. I truly do not know how mums cope with more than 2- you must have super powers ladies!!

Ok so this month there hasn’t been so much of the ‘big’ changes in development, more the tweaks of things she could already do.

Feeding

She has dropped her 10pm bottle. Such a relief as I always go to bed at 9ish so had to rely on Mr F to give it to her and even then I couldn’t go to sleep until I knew she had had it.

She is eating so well now, I haven’t done an update post on her weaning recently- will try and get that out asap. She loves fruit more than anything which is novel to me as I am not a fan at all.

Crawling/ Walking

She is much more speedy with both crawling and walking (around the furniture). The other day she stood unaided for a few seconds so I don’t think it will be long before she is attempting to walk across the living room.

We are going to have to put the stair gate back up this weekend as she made it up 3 steps the other day. Damn things get on my nerves, I was so glad when we were able to take them down for Little G.

Sleeping

Thankfully she is sleeping all the way through the night now. She is much better at getting herself off to sleep for naps and bedtime and this has meant if she wakes in the night she is able to re-settle herself. She still has her dummy but at the moment she is content so I will fight that battle another time.

Talking

She is experimenting all the time! She is much chattier and loves talking to her cuddly toys. Her favourite noise is screeching still but there is definitely a shift towards ‘talking’ rather than the silence we have been used to.

Other things to note:

  • She is recognising names- I can say G or daddy and she will look towards them. So cute.
  • She is so cheeky, her personality is really beginning to show. She loves peekaboo and tilts her head round corners to see you.
  • She has learned how to blow. She purses her lips and lets a little ‘pfff’ sound. I was in bed with her this morning taking turns blowing.
  • She has learnt how to put her own dummy in. I am not impressed although it is handy.

Aww, she's so lovely - only a month or so older than my Pumpkin, so it's interesting to see what we have coming up for us soon! :-)

They change so quickly don't they?! Time goes far too quick!

Those pfff's sound so cute! It won't be long before she's blowing raspberries. :-)

I'm in total awe of mums who manage with more than one child. I couldn't even begin to imagine having two or three and I'm very happy that we have to stick with only one.

We'll soon be fighting the dummy battle too. Bubs has hers only at bedtime and try as I might I can't seem to get her to break the habit. I figure it's only at nights so it's not going to hurt for a bit longer.

I am not sure I manage with the two, I just muddle along and hope they are happy lol. If she only has a dummy at bedtime that isn't so bad, L has managed to con her way into having hers more and more through the day so I am never going to be able to wean her off it!

such a cutie!

We've got one baby gate at the mo (more for the dog than baby) but I can see we'll need more in the future -damn! they get on my nerves too!

Yeh we have 3, one for the kitchen, and two for the stairs. We have a spare in the garage which I may put on her room at some point but we shall see!! It's when you think they are unlocked, go to walk through and almost fall right over them as it is in fact locked!! Doh!!
