I started this feature to celebrate real mums. Mums come in all shapes and sizes but sometimes we can feel alone, we can feel as though we are the only ones struggling to keep on top of things. I want to lift the lid on motherhood so we can all feel a part of sisterhood, to feel proud about our own achievements and know that we are doing the best we can!
Without further a do let me hand over to Karen!
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family.
Karen, Matthew, Lily, Izzy and Eve. 13 months between Lily and identical twins Izzy and Eve. Yes it was crazy having 3 under 13 months, yes it still is crazy!
Describe a typical day in your life
A typical day starts around 7 as the girls are good sleepers really. If I’m working I give the girls their breakfast and then head off to the gym which is near to the office. I get to the office for 9ish. I’m a lawyer at a commercial firm so it’s none stop til I head home around 6/7 hopefully in time to give the girls a cuddle before bed. Hubby and I eat dinner together if we are both in, after the girls have gone to bed around 7pm. I then blog or catch up on social media before crashing in bed around 10.30. Wednesday is my day off with the girls and then things looks a little different.
What is the best thing about being a mum?
Unwavering love from three little people who always give you huge cuddles in the morning.
What have you found hardest about motherhood?
The constant tiredness, overwhelming exhaustion at times.
How has your body changed?
My tummy stretched to an incredible size when I was pregnant with the twins and whatever I do it won’t go away.
Do you wear makeup? If so, what does your routine look like?
I recently took part in Heledd’s Beauty Hub and shared all of my favourite beauty products. I have a simple routine of moisturiser, a No7 foundation and always some black mascara.
What’s in your handbag?
I always have my phone and my work phone, lipgloss, my keys, purse and a whole host of child related items! I recently wrote a ‘What’s in my handbag?’ post if you want to have a look!
What is your relationship with housework?
I HATE housework but am also very lucky and the benefit of juggling such a ridiculously busy job with three kids is having a cleaner.
How do you relax?
I eat and I drink – far too much. I love a good giggle, going out for dinner, or just sitting around the table with hubby eating nice food and drinking wine.
What’s the best parenting advice you have ever been given?
To follow your gut. To trust yourself. To believe that what you are doing is right.
For any new mums out there, what would you like to tell them?
To take any help anyone offers you. Don’t be proud, they might not offer again and at some point you will need it.
What makes you happy?
A family day out when everyone has a fantastic day, can’t beat it
And finally, complete this sentence:
I am a great mum because….. I have three wonderful children who are incredibly happy and smile every day.
I honestly don’t know how you manage working, 3 kids AND a fabulous blog Karen, you are a superwoman! Also, you look gorgeous, can’t see any sign of a big belly! x

I have a similar routine to Karen but with one less child and fewer trips to the gym I suspect! So am super impressed at how she manages to fit it all in without collapsing in a heap!
