A Personalised Cake with Baker Days #Review & #Giveaway

When Baker Days contacted me and asked if I would like to try one of their cakes I was very excited- who doesn’t love cake? But actually the main reason I wanted to jump up and down was the fact that they make dairy free cakes!!!! My baby girl was going to be able to have a special cake made just for her!

Baker Days are an online bakers that will make and deliver your choice of cake, taking the hassle out of having to search the supermarkets or make the cake yourself. The choice is fantastic, there are cakes for all occasions and lots of ways to personalise your cake- including photo cakes! They also make cupcakes which can also be personalised- ideal for creating a theme!

I chose a 1st birthday cake with a personalised message for L. Here is the picture of the cake on their website so you can see the design in full (obviously ours has L’s full name on it).

Once you have chosen your cake design you can choose the size. We reviewed their letter box size cake and as the name suggests it will indeed fit through a letter box so you can send a small cake as a surprise to someone! Cute idea!

The standard cake comes in a sponge but if you fancy something different you can pay a little extra to have chocolate chip or a fruit cake. They also offer gluten free and of course the dairy free which is what I opted for. Perfect!

Postage varies depending on how quickly you want the cake. If you are in a real hurry they offer delivery before 10am the next day but if you are in no rush you can have a larger cake delivered for free but it takes 7 days. Letter box cakes can be delivered via Royal Mail and so will arrive first class with your normal mail delivery.

I chose to have the cake delivered Friday (the day before the party) as I was still a little wary that it may arrive damaged and I would have to quickly make one! It was fine though arriving in a cute little tin which holds the cake steady during transit. There were even some balloons and candles inside the box! Very thoughtful.

The cake itself is very small, measuring just 13cm in diameter and 2cm in depth. I had a little taste (Baby L gobbled the rest up!) and it was very nice, you couldn’t tell that a butter substitute had been used to make it. For the price you are definitely paying for the novelty factor- to surprise someone with a cake plopping through their letter box! It would make an ideal gift for someone away at university- I know I would have appreciated a cake when I was living away from home!
