Baby Development- 11 month update

I cannot believe I am writing an 11 month update! How is my tiny baby almost turning one?? It doesn’t seem a minute that she burst into this world in style and now she is almost a toddler! She is changing every single day now and so this month is totally different to last month’s update!

Feeding

We have had a set back with regards feeding as we now know she is allergic to soya as well as dairy. So so annoying as so many dairy substitutes contain soya- if there are any dairy/soya  allergy experts out there I would love to know what you use instead! The picture below is of her eating her gluten free spaghetti, I have a sneaky suspicion she may be slightly intolerant as every time she eats pasta she wakes in the night screaming. Such a faff!!

In other news I had started giving her a spoon with her dinner and she LOVES it. She knows what to do with it and brings it to her mouth but has no idea how to scoop or how to stop it falling off the spoon. So funny to watch but not funny when I am on my hands and knees sweeping up rice!!!

Walking

So, crawling is completely gone now and she walks everywhere. At the beginning of the month she did this really cute sway when you praised her for walking. It was a ‘yep, I know I am cute and I am going to sway so I look even cuter’ kind of thing!

She barely used this walker to be honest and she definitely couldn’t have used it to learn as it rolls too fast if you lean on it. She is fine pushing it alone but she has worked out she can go faster without it! She has now started to try to run everywhere but that is not going so well and she ends up falling flat on her face! All too cute though!

Sleeping

What’s that again?? She has been waking up most nights for the past week or so, probably due to teeth I am sure but I am EXHAUSTED! It makes me certain that I could not cope with the newborn stage again!

Part of the reason she wakes up is down the fact she loves her dummy far too much and cannot sleep without it. Why does it always fall down the wall side of the cot? Can you tell me?!!! So annoying!

Talking

I took her for her 10-12 month review with the Health Visitor a few weeks ago and when she asked whether she talked at all I said she didn’t utter a sound. She was marked down as being behind much to my displeasure!!

Anyway, she must have overheard as that afternoon she said ‘mama’, ‘dada’ and ‘yaya’ and has not stopped since! Mostly we have shrieks and growls but we do now have words. She doesn’t aim them at anyone but that will come soon enough. Although saying that if you ask her something she responds with ‘yeh’ which is always fun! ‘Are you a snot face?’ ‘yeh’. Oh how I laugh to myself…..

Other things to note:

• Trying to dress herself- this is so funny. She pulls her socks off and then spends the next half an hour trying to put them back on!!
• Dancing- any time music comes on she sways on the spot and looks very pleased with herself!
• Throwing and dropping things on purpose- not funny when it is my phone!!!
• Emptying things- I often find her emptying out all of G’s clothes from her chest of drawers and then she scurries off when I find her!
• Crying- teeth have a lot to answer for. She is a total cry baby and is crying for no reason every 10 minutes these days!
• Peekaboo- this is so cute, she finds anything she can to drape over her head and plays peekaboo with anyone who will watch her.
• Kisses- possibly the lovliest and most disgusting thing in the world. Full on open mouthed snogs when you ask her for kisses. Yum.
• Loves her dummy more than anything else in the world- I am never going to be able to get rid of it. ever.
