Vital Baby 2 in 1 Steam and Blend

As a busy mum of 3 I am all about convenience, I cannot be doing with anything too complicated and as a result my kitchen is packed to the rafters with various appliances! I have something for every job you can think of and so when Vital Baby asked me if I would like to try their 2 in 1 Steam and Blend I was very excited! If a machine can whip up some tasty meals for Wills for me then that is a win!

The 2 in 1 Steam and Blend is so named because it does both the steaming and blending in the same bowl – less washing up hurrah! All you have to do is pop in the ingredients, choose the setting and press start – that is it! From raw to pureed in no time at all. You can use it to make thicker, lumpier foods too so it will last you through the various stages of weaning.

I have used it to make Wills his dinner if he can’t have what we are eating, but I have mainly used it to make him puddings as he isn’t able to feed himself fruit yet. One of his favourites is a variation on one of the recipes that comes with the blender – apple and grape with cinnamon. Yum!

Once you have chopped up your ingredients (I make everything around 1-2cm cubed) just pop them in the bowl, making sure the blades are secure and the lid is on tight.

The recipes give you a time but most fruit and veg take around 15 minutes I would say. So choose the time and that is it, it will steam everything and blend at the end. The best thing for me is the fact that it retains the goodness in the juices and those same juices are then used to make the puree.

Once the blending is done it will beep to let you know and turn itself off. That is safer than some of the appliances I have actually and means I can prepare and leave it without worrying about overheating!
