How To Make A Pinnable Image

If you have read my post about using Pinterest to drive traffic to your blog then you will know that you need to have a fantastic pinnable image somewhere within each post. The problem is, many bloggers take landscape photos and these are just no good for pinterest!

Pinterest works by giving you a set width, so no matter how lovely your image is it will be reduced down to fit the specified width leaving you with ridiculously small images which nobody will see! However, Pinterest does not limit you lengthways and this is what you need to create.

Now as I have said, most bloggers including myself, take landscape photos for their blog. They look so much nicer as they fill the width of your post. So when you want to make an image pinnable you are left with two options:

Option 1: crop or resize the image.

This isn’t much of an option is it? You end up with weird looking photos like this:

So, this leads me onto the rather ingenious….

Option 2: Create a collage in Picmonkey

I don’t know why it took me this long to think of it but after talking with fellow bloggers I am not the only one to have missed this simple solution!

Take 3 or 4 photos from your post and collage them together to create a strip! Simple!! Not only does it create a fantastic long image for Pinterest but it tells a story- perfect for how to’s and recipes! Genius right?

Ordinarily I would make this the full width (600px) of the post but so you can see it in all its glory I have left it a bit smaller. Add on some text and you are good to go!
