It can be quite overwhelming when you first start thinking about using reusable nappies. It is like people are speaking a different language! Here is a breakdown of the cloth nappy lingo!
Liner- you can get paper flushable one or washable ones. I have a mixture of both (depends if I know she is due a poo ;-)) The liner is important as it allows the wee to pass through to the absorbent part below but keeps baby dry.
Booster- either bamboo or hemp. They provide an extra layer of absorbency.
PUL- all in one and pocket nappies have PUL (waterproof) on the outside. If you use 2 parters then you will need to buy a waterproof cover separately.
Cover/ wrap- these are the waterproof covers for using over the top of a nappy such as TotsBots bamboozles. Very good nighttime nappies as they provide extra protection against leaks.
The different fabrics
Minky- very quick to absorb.
Bamboo- super absorbant
Hemp- super super absorbent.

Types of nappy
Pocket nappy- This consist of a nappy with a pocket, you pop a booster inside the pocket and away you go.
All in one- basically the same as a pocket except the booster is attached. you can always pop more boosters in if needed.
Two parters- Consisting of the absorbent nappy and an outer layer. You only need 1 wrap per 5 inner nappies as you do not have to change the wrap every single time you change the inner (only if it becomes damp or soiled)
Not all pockets fit the same so it is worth trying some through a local nappy library. Two parters are definitely the way forward for bedtime or for especially heavy wetters as they have double the protection.
