I have been documenting Baby L’s development month by month but thought as Little G has now turned 3 I would write down what she is doing right now. She doesn’t change as dramatically these days but the changes are there nonetheless!
Chatty little miss
In the past few months she has lost the last of her baby words. This saddened me beyond belief! I loved the way she started most words with a ‘g’ sound. Now she speaks fluently and has all of her sounds.
Her vocabulary astounds me! I guess she must pick up words from me but it still amazes me when she comes out with some larger words and puts them in context correctly!
Oopsie daisy!
She is ever so clumsy! I don’t know if that is normal for a 3 year old or whether she just has two left feet but she is always tripping over herself!!
Besides that though she is very active and likes football and trampolining. We have a giant sunken trampoline in our garden and she has perfected tricks over the summer!
The last bit of ‘baby’ was lost in the last month when I finally allowed her to go up and down the stairs on her own. My heart is in my mouth every time she does it and knowing her she will probably fall but I had to let her do it at some point!
Mummy I don’t like mushrooms!
She isn’t at all fussy really- her favourite food is onion! Funny child! Because I know she is willing to try new things I know to trust her when she says she doesn’t like something. The other day we went out for dinner and she asked to try some coleslaw I had rejected from my plate- she liked it! I was never a brave child, I am still really fussy really and never ever try new things!
Time for bed!
This is hit and miss. Her Toddler Hypoglycemia means sometimes she wakes in the night. Generally though as long as she has toast before bed she is fine and sleeps until 7am.
Recently she has become very clingy and isn’t keen on anyone besides me putting her to bed but it is tough really. Daddy loves her too!
Mummy I need a wee!
Thankfully she has been dry since March (June for nights). We have only ever had 2 accidents which is amazing. It was her choice to drop the nappies and I think that was the trick to successfully making the move to using the toilet (she never liked the potty so went straight to the toilet).
Other things she can do:
She is able to count up to 50 independently and has good 1:1 correspondence when counting objects.
She knows all of the sounds and letter names. I haven’t tried to teach her how to write them yet, not sure if she should be able to by now but she hasn’t shown any interest.
Her memory is amazing, There must be some name for it as sometimes it is ridiculous the things she remembers!
She loves dinosaurs and cars “Mummy I would like a Mini when I am older”
Her favourite colour is yellow and she loves eating BBQ sauce!
That is all I can think of for now. I still can’t believe she is three!! Madness!!
