Now that summer is drawing to a close it is time to tidy away all of the garden toys, the sun loungers, the bikes and everything else that has been used all summer long.

We tried out one of their bike sheds in an effort to prevent our bikes from being a) being hidden away at the back of the shed and therefore never used or b) left outside in the rain to rust because we couldn’t fit them in the shed.

Storing our bikes away with a bike shed
We are a family of 5 and so that is a lot of bikes to keep in a garden shed! It has always been a nightmare trying to get into the shed to get anything out, as well as trying to get the bikes out when we needed them.
A bike shed has been the perfect solution to this problem as now we can easily access the bikes, while our garden shed is now usable for our gardening needs.
The shed was delivered on a day to suit us and the driver unloaded everything in through the gate for us. We then set about putting it together down the side of our house so that we have easy access to the bikes when we need them.
The instructions are clear and easy to follow, taking you through the build step-by-step. It is definitely a 2-person job, with one holding pieces in place while the other screws them together.
The bike shed was built in around 3 hours, with the walls and flooring being the quickest parts and more time being spent on the roof so as not to split to felting.
The quality of the shed is good, with sturdy walls made from timber and a thick felt to cover the roof. Something else to mention is the quality of the metal hardware – so often screws will warp when screwing them in, ruining the head, but the screws included with this product were good and sturdy and will stand the test of time now.
Once the shed was built, we fetched the bikes and placed them inside. We weren’t sure how many would fit inside but all of them do. That being said, 2 of them are smaller kids bikes so I would say that as a guide you are looking at 3-4 adult bikes (as shown in the photo), plus helmets and other accessories.
We are so pleased with how the bike shed has freed up space in our garden shed, while allowing us easy access to our bikes whenever we need them. It is a smart looking piece of garden storage and has made great use of an otherwise dead bit of space down the side of the house.
