Inside: How to make your kitchen more efficient. Collaborative post.
While cooking can be a great way to relax, many of us can find it time-consuming or overwhelming if we have other things to do. The kitchen can become a stressful place for busy parents trying to juggle quick and healthy meals for their kids, along with work and other commitments. Here are a few ways to make things run smoothly in your kitchen.
Consider upgrading to induction
When time is of the essence, waiting for your hob to warm up or cool down can be frustrating. Upgrading your kitchen hob to an induction hob can be a great way to make your kitchen more efficient.
Induction hobs use around 70% less energy than traditional gas or ceramic and 90% of the energy produced is channelled into the pan itself which means that your food cooks faster with less power. If you do opt for this upgrade, investing in an induction pan set will ensure that you have all the necessary equipment for whatever meal you are cooking.
For busy homes, induction hobs are great because they are much safer. When pans are removed the hob stops heating up and there is no flame element to ignite fumes or cause burns, making them a great addition to a family kitchen. Also, due to the entirely smooth surface of the hobs, they are very easy to clean and maintain which further saves time when clearing up.
Label everything
Labelling items in your kitchen will help you quickly identify where things are and make packing away after a weekly shop much easier. Use painter’s tape or a label maker to stick labels onto various things in your kitchen, including leftovers in the freezer, baskets and shelves. If you aren’t a fan of labels, you could purchase clear containers to easily see what is inside to help save time.
Sharpen your knives
Sharpening your knives before or after every use will make your kitchen much more efficient as you will be able to work faster. Sharp knives are also much safer to work with as they are easier to control and will sink into the food you are slicing rather than slipping across the surface.
Build timesaving habits
Building time-saving habits is a great way to make your whole kitchen experience more efficient. These habits can be anything from meal prepping and batch cooking to preparing a shopping list before you go food shopping and repurposing leftovers.
The more organised you can be the more time you will be able to save. For example, making a list before you go shopping will ensure that you don’t spend multiple hours wandering around the supermarket or buying items that will expire before they are used.
