How To Make Cleaning Bathroom Tiles Easy

Inside: How To Make Cleaning Bathroom Tiles Easy. Collaborative post.

Cleaning tiles can be one of the most dreaded housework tasks. In many cases, it’s not the tiles themselves that are an issue but the grouting in between. This grouting can accumulate stubborn dirt and mould if not regularly cleaned. Many of us rely on elbow grease to try and scrub away this first, but it’s not always enough.

So just how should you be cleaning your bathroom tiles?

Below are just a handful of simple hacks that make cleaning bathroom tiles a much easier task.

Use a toothbrush

A spare toothbrush is a great tool to have for cleaning the bathroom. Not only is a toothbrush great for cleaning around faucets, but it can also be great for getting into the grouting between tiles. Just as you’re supposed to do with teeth, try to brush in small but firm circles in order to help loosen up dirt.

You’ll want to add a cleaning solution to the brush to help loosen up dirt. You can just use toothpaste, but there are better options if you don’t want to use up your toothpaste on your bathroom walls. Bleach or hydrogen peroxide are great chemicals for getting rid of stains and can help kill mould.

For a more natural cleaning solution, consider using lemon juice or baking soda with vinegar (these can be quite effective for loosening up grease and dirt).

Use an anti-mould spray

If your bathroom is prone to mould growth, it could be worth buying an anti-mould spray. These typically include chemicals like bleach that can kill fungi. Simply spray it onto your tiles and leave it for a few minutes and the mould should start to fade away.

You can make your own anti-mould spray at home by mixing bleach and water into an empty spray bottle. If you’d prefer to use a natural cleaning solution, consider vinegar and baking soda with a small amount of water.

Invest in a steam cleaner

Steam cleaners are a handy gadget that can be used for many cleaning tasks. They produce steam which helps to lift dirt and grime. They can be ideal for tiles, helping to loosen up dirt within crevices in the grouting.

Some steam cleaners come with extensions that can help when cleaning certain surfaces. Small brush extensions are ideal for helping to get rid of dirt from grouting in tiles. You can shop for steam cleaner kits online.

These gadgets can be quite expensive although they can vary in price – it’s worth taking the time to shop around for discounts.

Replace your tiles with panels

If you’ve had enough of cleaning tiles and grouting, a simple solution could be to get rid of your tiles and grouting altogether. Bathroom wall panels can be a great alternative to tiles.

They are made of a synthetic material that can be made to measure in order to perfectly fit your entire bathroom wall. This synthetic surface can be easily wiped clean and is likely to last years longer than tiles.

Bathroom wall panels are available in all different designs and textures. You can buy plain white panels or you can buy panels that resemble stone, wood, brick – or even tiles. The cost of bathroom wall panels can vary depending on the design and texture, as well as the size.

There are many sites that sell cheap bathroom wall panels that still look amazing. An added advantage that bathroom wall panels have over tiles is that they can be easily installed oneself. This saves you money having to call a professional tiler.

Clean your tiles as you shower

The best time to clean your bathroom tiles is while you’re already in the bath or shower. This allows you to easily run the showerhead over the tiles and wash away any excess dirt without worrying about getting your clothes soaked in the process.

It’s also easier to get into a routine of cleaning your tub and tiles by doing it as you shower. Most of us shower every day at a certain time – you could make it a habit of cleaning your bathroom tiles every Monday morning while you shower to ensure that they don’t build up too much stubborn dirt and grime.

Tiles are likely to get harder to clean the longer you leave them, so try to find a routine so that they don’t get forgotten for too long.
