The Fairy Secret Service – A Review

Inside: A review of The Fairy Secret Service gift experience. Featuring press samples.

My girls are obsessed with fairies. I can’t remember if it started when my eldest lost her first tooth or if it had always been that way. But for the longest time they have both kept an eye out on walks and written notes in the hope someone would reply. So when I heard of The Fairy Secret Service I knew they would totally get involved.

The Fairy Secret Service is a gift experience for children aged 4 and upwards. The Fairy Godmother sends personalised letters, gives gifts and brings the magic alive with each experience. Suitable for all budgets with various packages, it makes for an ideal gift for any believers you know.

We were given The Ultimate Fairy Package to review and it was the most magical experience I have ever taken part in. My children are 4, 7 and almost 10 and all of them were enchanted.

The Fairy Secret Service

The Fairy Secret Service was set up by Vicki, a primary school teacher in Plymouth, who wanted to bring the magic of the fairy world to children in a way that would also utilise her love of teaching. The gift experience promotes imaginative play, storytelling, positive behaviour, and so much more.

The Ultimate Fairy Package

We were sent The Ultimate Fairy Package and it was absolutely beautiful. It requires some personalisation so the first step is to get in contact with The Fairy Godmother. She sends you an email explaining what is needed for the experience. You need to send over a photo for the lanyard and some points to include within the letters.

As soon as those are sent off, she will work her magic to put together the package and have it sent to you.

The Parcel

The 3 letters (one of which is attached to a box) arrive in a parcel addressed to you. Inside are the letters for your child along with a letter for you to open. This explains the whole process and the part you need to play to keep the magic alive.

Letter 1

This is an introductory letter for the children, explaining that the Fairy Godmother is going to be sending some of her fairies out into the human world to watch over the children and that she’s chosen your child to look after them in your area.

My children were beside themselves with joy at having received a letter from the Fairy Godmother. My 10 year old has been convinced that fairies live nearby for years now and so this only confirmed her suspicions. She carefully read out the letter to the younger two and they were so amazed that she knew things about them.

She also instructs them to say their Fairy Promise by reading it aloud for her to hear, making sure to sprinkle some fairy dust that is inside the envelope too. Once that is done she will send out the next letter.

Letter 2

This ‘arrived’ a few days after the first letter and was attached to the front of a big box. When they discovered it had been left on the doorstep they screamed – excited doesn’t even cover it.

The letter thanked the children for making their promise and welcomed them to the team. It also explained that they would now need to set up their fairy house to make it welcoming for fairies in the area.

Inside the envelope were membership cards, a magic key and fairy gems to be used at a later date.

Inside the box was the most beautiful fairy house (each is different so you will get a surprise) and makes for the most gorgeous addition to our garden.

We had a lovely afternoon setting it up, with the girls making little fences from lolly sticks and potting up some plants to make it pretty.

An email update

Once you have set up the house in your garden, the Fairy Godmother asks you to email a photo of your children next to it. She then adds that to her Fairy Directory for fairies to look through and then go to visit. She sends you the directory entry to show you.

If you look carefully, you can see that her special fairy detector machine was able to capture fairies that were there at the time the photo was taken but had been invisible to the human eye.

Letter 3

The final letter thanked the children for creating such a lovely space for the fairy house and told them that fairies had already been spotted using it and enjoying the garden.

It is now time to understand what the magic gems are to be used for. The Fairy Godmother explains that each gem corresponds to a good deed, and that if you can show that you have that quality you will be rewarded by the gem. You get a little leaflet to explain this in more detail.

She explains that she may not write again but that they are doing such a great job as Fairy Secret Agents.

The whole experience was magical from beginning to end and actually, there is no ‘end’ as they are now trying their best to earn their gem stones and are looking after their fairy garden, so that fairies continue to enjoy using it.

For me, it was so lovely to see their eyes light up when they got the letters – especially my eldest who sometimes acts more like a teenager – the magic brought her right back into her childhood and allowed her to experience the magic.

If your child loves fairies and magic and you are looking for a gift to encourage good behaviour or just a fun activity to do together then The Fairy Secret Service gift experience is just so magical, I cannot recommend it enough.
