This week we went ten pin bowling. It was actually meant to be for my birthday (in March!) but after two bouts of chicken pox, endless colds and general procrastination we never managed it! I am not entirely sure why I even chose to go bowling as a birthday ‘treat’ – I don’t even enjoy it!! However, Little G was super excited and that is enough for me.
Do you love our shoes? I have to say her little feet look so cute, whereas my HUGE size 8’s make me look like a clown (sob sob). Anyway, they are an essential part of the trip so on they went and off we skipped to find our lane.
I think Little G was expecting a little room with tiny pins – her experience of bowling so far has been a plastic set I got from the pound shop, playing in our hallway. I could see the excitement on her face as we turned the corner and she saw all of the lanes with their flashing lights.
Mr F was in charge of helping her bowl while I kept hold of Baby L. She would tell him which bowling ball she liked the look of and he would take it over to the ramp (is it called a ramp? You know what I mean).
She took the whole thing very seriously. She obviously takes after her dad, who is THE most competitive person in the world! She would carefully eye up the pins and give a great big push, sending the ball hurtling towards the end!
She got a strike about half way through the game and was so excited! She screamed and clapped as she skipped back to the benches. To see her little face light up made me change my opinion of the game. Being a parent changes so many things, once you see the world through a child’s eyes you are a much happier person.
Oh must add, she came third out of 5 of us! She beat me by 2 points!
Have you taken your kids bowling? Do you let them win or are you the competitive type?
