I chose to wait to put the tree up this year. Baby L was born on the 15th December last year and I didn’t want her birthday to be overshadowed by the festivities. We had a lovely tea party for her on Saturday and then Sunday we put the tree up. Would I wait again next year? I am not sure. I felt as though I was wishing her party to be out of the way so we could get on with normal proceedings. I think I am just going to have to accept she is a Christmas baby and find other ways of making her day stand out. Any tips gratefully received!!
Anyway, we got the tree down (we can’t trust a real tree yet, not even sure I can trust her with a fake one!!) and set about decorating it! I know some people like everything to match and carefully place each decoration to look beautiful on the tree but those types of trees do nothing for me. Our tree is all about us, our decorations symbolise moments in our life.
Bought for us the year we got married.
Little g’s footprint at 10 days old.
Sock monkey decoration made by my lovely friend Laura (WaffleMama)
Baby L’s first Christmas (10 days old!)
So there we have it, not the most glamorous of trees but to me it is beautiful. Each decoration means something to me and I will continue to add to it over the years- definitely going to need a bigger tree!!
What is your tree like? Do you have any decorations that mean anything to you?

I think your tree is lovely. I equally like themed trees and hodge-podge trees. We have a hodge-podge one. They're lovely and Christmassy no matter what!

I love your sentimental ornaments! I'm with you on preferring at tree to be about the family rather than matching whatever theme is trendy this year.
