Moving onto baby-led with OXO Tot

I have a very relaxed attitude when it comes to weaning my children and it has paid off with my girls – they eat absolutely everything! I don’t believe in one approach and so have always done a mix of purees fed with a spoon, moving on to baby taking over with the hand-held foods later on. We started weaning Wills at around 6 months old and then after a growth spurt ended he didn’t show much more of an interest.

Now that he is 9 months (how is he 9 months??) he is now very much a hungry baby once again and is grabbing at everything in sight. If I don’t give him food while I am eating you should see his face!! After fobbing him off with a few cheesy puffs, it has got to the stage where I need to think about what he might like to eat. He is mostly on fruit at the moment but he is trying bits and bobs from our plates and is heading in the same ‘give me anything’ direction as the girls.

We were very kindly sent some bits from OXO Tot, including a roll up bib which catches everything for him to help himself to later. The girls were tidy eaters so I never needed one with them but it is so handy with Wills as he is not very adept at getting stuff in his mouth!

The training plate is really handy as it does help him to scoop up his food and the ring is removable so when he is a little more skilled he can have more of a normal plate to use.

The best thing so far has got to be the transitions sippy cup as he loves holding the handles (he’s been feeding himself his bottle for a while). The hot weather recently has made him a little dehydrated and he wouldn’t take water from his bottle, so now he is happy to drink from his cup.

It is also non-spill and after rigorous testing I can assure you it most definitely stands up to that the name!

We used OXO Tot with Lils and still have some of the bits and bobs from her weaning days as they are just such great quality. If you are looking to get some feeding accessories for your little one then go take a look at their website for more.
