The Gilmore Girls Are Back!

I want to be Lorelai. There, I said it! I also want to live in Stars Hollow and own a dog called Paul Anka. If you do not know what I am on about then where have you been?!

I have been a Gilmore Girls fan since the beginning, I feel like I have grown up alongside Rory (we are both 32) and so when I found out that Netflix were bringing the series back, I felt as though it was like old friends coming home. Probably sounds weird if you don’t watch it but if you do, you’ll know what I mean!

I don’t get much time to myself these days. With three kids, a husband, housework and a business to run I don’t get much chance to sit down and watch tv on my own. Anything I do watch is a joint interest with Mr F (we are currently loving Suits) and that means I miss all of the girlie girlie things. There was no way I was missing this though so I kicked Mr F out for the night, put the girls to bed and snuggled on the sofa with Wills asleep next to me.

Being on the Netflix Stream Team has meant I have known about the new series for ages and they may have got wind of the fact that I am a huge fan. They sent me a fab little package to help me get into the spirit – including my very own Luke’s Diner mug!! Love it!!

It is not a full series unfortunately, just a 4-part mini series named Gilmore Girls A Year In The Life. Each episode is an hour and a half though and covers one of the seasons to make up the full year.

So what did I think?

I am going to be honest and say I teared up a little when it started, I can’t even explain why but it felt like a momentous occasion. Again I will say, if you haven’t watched it you need to and then you will understand! I have only managed to watch Winter, Spring and Summer so far as Wills woke up for a feed and I realised it was almost midnight!

I enjoyed every single minute of it and loved how the characters were exactly the same as they were all those years ago, I had forgotten so many of them – like Kirk, I do love Kirk! The episodes were made purely for the fans I felt, letting us catch up with old friends after so many years. I hadn’t actually realised how much I loved them all until now. It was like when Take That reunited – just like that. And actually just like Robbie’s absence, I miss Sookie, why isn’t she there? Also, where is the theme tune?! Bring back the theme tune!

I still have one episode to go and I am hoping by the end of the week I will have managed to sneak it in. But honestly I am not ready for it to be over, I want them to make more… and more! But listening to others who have already seen the end it sounds as though it comes full circle, I hope so! I know I will cry and I know for sure that I will still want to be Lorelai – that is a given.

If you haven’t watched it before then it is never too late – all of the original episodes are on Netflix now so you can start from the beginning! I might just start right back at the beginning anyway, for old times sake!
