I feel like I haven’t really written anything in weeks, at least nothing that shares an insight into our little life as a family of 5. I share our highlights in my Happy Days posts each Saturday but I always feel like I could write so much more. I’d end up veering off-piste though and so I stick to my bullet points and to the happy theme of the post. So, I thought I would write a little update every month, just to let you know what we’ve been up to and what we have planned. That’s my plan anyway…
The last week or so has been a blur illnesses and big changes and I don’t know whether I’m coming or going right now. The whole house has been struck with flu and although most of us are better, Mr F seems to be getting worse and he’s been working from home the last few days which has sent my routine into a spin.
Our routine is all over the place as it is with Lils starting pre-school and both girls joining clubs. Gracie has started Rainbows and Lils has started ballet – they are both absolutely loving it but blimey it is keeping me busy! Mondays and Tuesdays are crazy days and by Wednesday I am completely exhausted – not good planning on my part! Never in my life have I felt so much like a mum, ferrying them backwards and forwards here, there and everywhere. I actually said to my mum today that I have a real appreciation for all she did for me and my sister now!
As well as life stepping up a gear in terms of school runs and after school clubs, I have also taken on more work and this has made for a busier day while the girls aren’t around. I am now a BritMums Round-up editor, such an exciting role and I cannot wait to have my first post published. I am in charge of the Mums & Tots Round-up so keep an eye out for that. I am also doing some VA (virtual assistant) work now, which is really fun and is actually making me more organised in my own work.
You might have noticed a few changes on the blog, I changed my colours slightly and have changed the layout. I had some blog coaching from my gorgeous friend Aby as part of her #MomBossSquad course (if you want to start a blog or improve your blog I cannot recommend her highly enough) and I have a big plan for the blog – I am really excited about it all.
Keeping busy helps me to feel more in control and cope better with having three little people to look after. I am going to share some of my daily routines soon, as I get so many people asking me how I manage to fit it all in. Honestly it all boils down to organisation and as long as I stick to a routine then everything runs smoothly. Of course throw a bit of flu into the mix and it all falls apart but that’s life isn’t it?
I am so ready for it to be summer now and as I drove along this morning, with my windscreen flecked with the frost I couldn’t reach, I dreamed of warmer days where we can walk along enjoying the sunshine. I have missed the last few summers really as I’ve been pregnant for 3 out of 5 and so haven’t been able to enjoy them fully. Last summer I pretty much hibernated indoors but this summer I want to get out as much as possible – I can’t wait!
I also want the warmer weather and lighter evenings to come so I can go on more runs, well if I could just feel well enough to go on one right now that would be an achievement. Although I am making up for the lack of proper exercise with the mad dash up the hill from pre-school to collect Gracie. Honestly, pushing a pram and a buggyboard will have me with arms like Popeye before long!
We don’t have much planned for the next couple of weekends but I am really looking forward to half term as we are off to see friends and their new baby. I was the first of all my friends to have a baby and I never thought I would be able to share in that newborn stage with anyone. So nice to be able to chat with her about all things baby as even though I am on my third, it often feels like I am doing it for the first time – you forget so much!
Right, it is almost feeding time so I best go before Wills wakes up. I can’t think of anything else to update you on right now but I will do another update next month – I’ll try and include more photos too but this month has seen my poor camera gathering dust!
