Exploring London With Kids

Exploring London with Binky Bear

We live just over half an hour away from London by train and yet we hardly ever visit! The girls have only been twice I think which is such a shame when there is so much you can do together as a family.

When we were sent Binky Bear with his book ‘Binky goes to London’ I was glad to have an excuse to take the girls. The idea is simple, read the story about Binky and his adventures in London and then use the map to follow the same route- taking you past historical landmarks on the way. Great!

Exploring London

On Our Way To London

We hopped aboard the train at 11am and settled ourselves down for the journey. The girls enjoyed looking out of the window at the trees and houses whizzing by!

By the time we had arrived in London and made our way through the underground to Green Park, we were all starving so we threw down our picnic blanket and ate our lunch.

Exploring London

Little G was very excited to show Binky Buckingham Palace so we made our way through Green Park to see if we could spot the Queen looking out of one of her windows- she was definitely home as the flag was flying high above the palace.

Look who we spotted in St James’ Park! The girls were very excited to see their favourite sheep!DSC_0039

We said goodbye to Shaun and then carried on our way through St James’ Park, the sun was shining and it was so lovely to be out as a family.

Trafalgar Square was our next stop and look who we spotted again! I’d like to go back and see if we can find all of the Shaun the Sheep statues.

At this point Little G’s legs were almost dropping off and Little L had fallen asleep in the buggy, Binky under arm. The route Binky took us on was just enough for little legs and we had such a lovely time in the sunshine.

Time to go home

Having Binky with us made the day fun and gave us the nudge we needed to brave the big city with two toddlers. Despite it being a Saturday within the school holidays it was absolutely fine travelling on the trains & tubes and nowhere was especially busy. There is so much to do in London and I am already thinking about what we can do next time!

The Binky Bear gift set is £22 and there are other books in the series if you would rather take Binky on another adventure. The books are aimed at 2-7 year olds and his creators Liz and Moira want to encourage children to get outside exploring their surroundings without the need to spend much money at all. It is a great idea and I think it would make a great gift for any child.

Have you taken your children to London?

We were sent Binky Bear for the purpose of this review but I only ever share products that I love. All words and thoughts are my own.

Looks like you had a fabulous day out. Reminds me of the film Baby’s Day Out.

Its a great film. A baby gets kidnapped and goes on an adventure in New York. All the things that happen are in a book his Nanny reads to him.My boys loved it when they were smaller.
