If you had asked me a few years ago whether I had ever heard of bamboo being used to make clothing I would have given you a very strange look indeed. Seems a bit odd doesn’t it? But actually being a cloth nappy mama I soon found out that bamboo is a fantastic product with so many uses. I hadn’t heard of it being used for anything other than nappies though, so when Bambini And Me got in touch about their eco-friendly bamboo products I was very interested to hear more.
They very kindly sent Wills a gorgeous vest and some reusable breastpads for me. I don’t know about you but those awful disposable pads really irritate my skin and so I only ever use reusable pads now.
Bamboo is excellent at absorbing moisture (hence its use in cloth nappies and other reusable products) and is therefore the perfect material for baby clothes too. Their skin is so delicate and easily irritated, so dressing them in something that will quickly absorb moisture is ideal.
Isn’t the bunny design cute? I love the colour too, I really like soft pastels for a baby – it somehow keeps them looking like a baby if that makes sense?
For the eco-conscious, it is great to know that bamboo grows at such a rate that it means it is a completely sustainable resource. Two other awesome properties include it being anti-bacterial and that it is more breathable than cotton. The anti-bacterial properties are great for the breast pads of course and being more breathable than cotton is great for everyone! Their clothes go up to 18 months so I will definitely be getting a few rompers for the summer months and I have my eye on their adorable shoes too!
Have you ever tried bamboo?
