When we first moved into our house 7 years ago, our living room was black. Quite literally.
In a protest to all of the colour, we painted everything magnolia and went for a very minimalist look around the house. Cream, cream and more cream.
Then I joined Instagram and I needed everywhere to be white. I longed for white walls. Empty space and white backgrounds.
But the problem with white, in the most part, is that it is just so empty. A bit like that fresh feeling you get when you take all of the Christmas decorations down in January – but all year round.
And that is just so…. plain.
So a few months ago I decided enough was enough. I painted one of the living room walls green! It stayed like that until last month when I turned to Instagram stories to help me decorate the room. I took a photo of the original space and asked people to send me photos of what they thought might work.
Together we decided that purple would work well and that I needed new curtains and a selection of scatter cushions to spice up the place and make it feel more homely.
Argos is somewhere I have always turned to for home accessories – it is so handy to be able to order online and have it ready to collect the same day. Or with same-day home delivery on some items you really can’t ask for more.
The lovely people at Argos Home spotted my new curtains and asked if I would like to take a look at some of the other pieces they have. There is so much to choose from but I’d had my eye on something that would make the space super homely – a bookcase.
It was delivered a couple of days later, along with some other bits and bobs to make it look inviting and honestly I am over the moon with the finished look.
I now have somewhere to put all of my favourite books (up until now they have been under my bed!).
I also have space for the beautiful antique globe my sister got me – it was hidden away gathering dust!
Now I can sit on my sofa and look around a room that has had real thought put into the design.
What do you think? Have you seen the latest ranges from Argos Home?
I was gifted some of the pieces featured but all words and thoughts are my own.
