I remember one time, walking into my room to find so much washing on the bed that I sighed, swept it all onto the floor and climbed under the duvet.
Those clothes stayed there, gathering dust, for about a month before I summoned up the strength to deal with them.
Then there’s the time I threw all of our baking trays in the bin because I couldn’t face washing them up – they were caked in grease.
I just never seemed to have the time.
No time for keeping up to date with washing, never able to keep on top of the mess created by the children and definitely no time to do any dusting! And ironing? What is ironing?
Ok, well I still don’t iron (life is too short for ironing!) but those days are behind me now. And I want them to be behind you too!

Second, I want to tell you how I keep on top of everything. How I manage 3 children, a husband and a home. And I manage to look after myself at the same time! That’s taken practice I can tell you!
Today I am going to share my zones. The zones that mean I focus on different areas each week to spread out the chores and keep the whole house tidy.

Zone 1: Hallway & spare room
Zone 2: Kitchen & bathroom
Zone 3: Kids rooms
Zone 4: Master bedroom
Zone 5: Living room & dining room
So they are my zones, loosely based on the zones laid out by the FlyLady. If you don’t know her then have a Google, she is amazing.
So what do I do with my zones?
Each week, you start on a new zone – so week 1 would be zone one and so on. The week is broken down into 15-20 minutes in each zone, meaning you can fit it around your daily routine easily.
So let’s take zone 4 as an example. On the Monday you could change the bedding – with my Super King bed that often takes me 20 minutes and leaves me exhausted! The Tuesday could be dusting all of the units tidying out drawers. The Wednesday could be cleaning windows. Thursday tidy dressing table and Friday vacuuming the floor and ceiling (don’t want to forget the cobwebs).
By the end of the week, that zone is completed and by the end of each month or so, the whole house is clean.

What you need to do now, is work out what zones you need for your home as everyone’s homes are different. But the gist will be the same, breaking it down so that smaller chunks are more manageable.
