Inside: A review of the iRobot Roomba® 966 robot vacuum.
I swear part of the reason my mum got a dog was so that it would pick up the mess we’d drop during dinner time.
I have considered doing the same!
I spend my life vacuuming up crumbs and trying to do 101 other jobs at the same time.
Wouldn’t it be great if someone else could take care of it all for us? Someone else to do the everyday chore of keeping the floor, fluff and dust free.
Well, now they can!
Meet Roomba®, the best thing since sliced bread.
Roomba® is an intelligent vacuum with so many amazing features, and I am so excited to tell you about them!
In a nutshell, Roomba® will take care of the vacuuming while you get on with the other things on your list.
Now, who doesn’t want that?
Less time vacuuming = more time for other things.
Roomba® uses iAdapt® 2.0 Navigation with Visual Localisation to navigate an entire level of your home and keep track of its location. It will use a high-efficiency cleaning pattern and sensors to manoeuvre around furniture before docking back home to charge.
The Roomba® 966 runs continuously for up to 75 mins and will recharge when necessary before completing the job. Meaning you can come home to a clean house.
Roomba is so clever that it is able to avoid falling down stairs, using cliff-detection sensors. We weren’t wholly convinced about this, but after several cycles upstairs I can confirm that the sensors do work and no nasty falls have happened!
Roomba® automatically adjusts to clean carpets, tile, hardwood, and laminate floors as it moves through your home. Perfect for us as we have a mixture of everything in our house.
We have been using Roomba for the last few weeks and honestly, the house has never felt so clean. When it first arrived I had only just vacuumed downstairs that day, so wasn’t expecting too much to be picked up.
Oh, how wrong I was!
The rotating extractors have a durable rubber tread design that grabs dirt and the spinning side brush pushes small bits and bobs into the system. It also uses optical and acoustic sensors to detect large amounts of dirt, dust, and pet hair and then performs focused cleaning where it’s needed most.
It also claims to capture 99% of allergens, pollen, and particles using the AeroForce® High-Efficiency Filter. The air definitely feels clearer after using it every day!
Now the best thing for me is the fact that Roomba® connects to the iRobot HOME App. This means I can start cleaning from outside of the home. You can also keep track of any issues that may arise (if it has become tangled on a shoelace or My Little Pony hair…..).
You can see the map it has created, showing our living room (with chair legs) and our hallway.
Our pre-school routine is now to tidy up any toys from the floor, allowing Roomba® a clear run while I am busy dropping the girls to school. Then once I get home I have one less job to think about.
As well as setting a schedule, you can also connect to the Amazon Alexa system and start Roomba® off that way too.
“Alexa, tell Roomba to clean”
The whole system is so clever and it has lifted a job from my list, which is always a bonus!
If you love gadgets and want one less job to do every day, then take a look on the iRobot website at all of their Robot Vacuums.
We were sent the Roomba® 960 as part of this collaboration. All thoughts and words are my own.
